Imagine a world where #pancreaticcancer is detected early, where patients are guided to the best care from the moment of diagnosis, and where discoveries move from the lab to saving lives in years, not decades. That is the future PanCAN is building — by bringing together patients, families, researchers and clinicians to transform the future of this disease. 💜 Today at #PanCANPurpleStride, we launch our most ambitious effort yet, the $250 million All Together We Can campaign. Our vision: to make survival the expectation, not the exception, for the tens of thousands of people diagnosed with this disease every year. Why now? Because this disease remains the deadliest major cancer and the only one with a five-year survival rate below 20%. Because patients and their loved ones deserve more time, more treatment options and more effective screening strategies. Because our community knows that when we’re united in purpose and vision, we can achieve anything — and we’re ready to take on this next chapter. Learn more about how, over the next five years, the All Together We Can campaign will invest across three strategic pillars — forming a comprehensive approach to accelerate progress and improve survival for pancreatic cancer patients at 🔗 pcan.at/all-together-we-can.

For Alyssa L., PanCAN's Associate Director of Philanthropic Engagement and Mid-level Giving, the mission to advance pancreatic cancer research and support patients and families hits close to home. 💜 She shares, "In January 2025, my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I knew what people said about this disease. I had watched his mom, my grandmother, die just four months after her diagnosis in 2011. So, devastated, my dog and I moved home to make the most of the time we had left together. His initial diagnosis was stage IB. But when a Whipple procedure attempt in June 2025 revealed two small lesions in his liver, he was immediately elevated to stage IV, and the doctor estimated that he likely had only eight months to a year left. Since then, our family has been through more rounds of chemotherapy than I can count, CT scans, infections, a second failed Whipple surgery, setbacks and the agonizing uncertainty of waiting for results, return phone calls and the next appointment. If you’ve been touched by pancreatic cancer, you likely recognize this cycle of hope and grief. I knew I needed something that would get me out of bed in the morning. I felt desperate to contribute something positive and make meaningful progress for others facing this disease. That determination led me to PanCAN. Since joining the team here, I haven’t just learned about PanCAN’s mission and programs. I’ve experienced their impact firsthand. I’ve used PanCAN’s website and resources to become better informed. I’ve attended every webinar and listened to PancChat podcasts to deepen my understanding of the disease, the science and the treatment landscape. I attended my first PanCAN PurpleStride with my family and connected with other patients and caregivers, heard inspiring stories from survivors and experienced the power of a community united by hope. In conversations with our fundraising team, I’ve felt the authenticity, kindness and compassion that compels our supporters to give. My colleagues in PanCAN Patient Services answered my many questions, which strengthened both my work and helped me navigate conversations with my dad’s care team with far more clarity and confidence. When I prepared narratives about daraxonrasib and PanCAN’s decades-long role in propelling RAS research forward, I leaned heavily on my colleagues’ expertise to grasp the significance of this breakthrough. They also helped me understand the trial results and what they could mean for patients like my dad. So, when another liver lesion finally showed up on his imaging this July, I already knew our next step: trying to get him into the expanded access program (EAP) for daraxonrasib. On August 25th, when his paperwork was finally submitted, I felt hopeful knowing we were on the path to keep just barely outrunning this cancer for a little while longer. The next day, RASONQUE™ (daraxonrasib) was approved by the FDA. As PanCAN shared the exciting news, I was simultaneously panicking about what it might mean for my dad’s access, particularly after a month off treatment. Luckily, PanCAN’s Patient Services team provides personalized guidance for people exactly like me. I called, and they knew what my next steps should be. On their guidance, we got back on track to access the treatment through insurance. Colleagues had already been checking in because they knew others were running into access issues, and they were hard at work telling the story of how to better advocate for patients and their loved ones. So I wasn’t all that surprised when my dad was denied coverage. After a firm discussion with the insurance company, and armed with the knowledge I’d gained from Patient Services, we received a reversal — and RASONQUE arrived at our door the next day. My dad’s been on RASONQUE for a month, and his numbers are looking good. I know RASONQUE isn’t a cure. But right now, this treatment is giving my family renewed hope for more time. For more than 27 years, PanCAN President and CEO Julie Fleshman and Founder Pamela Acosta Marquardt have brought passion, unwavering dedication and ingenuity to PanCAN’s mission. Their commitment has been relentless, shaping and strengthening the field in countless ways. PanCAN’s willingness to be bold and innovative, to invest in RAS research 20 years ago when those mutations were considered undruggable, played a role in getting us to this moment. And the work we’re advancing today will continue to drive future breakthroughs for patients. I’m so honored to be a part of it. To my colleagues at PanCAN — and to everyone who donates, volunteers, walks, and advocates — you are changing people’s lives. I know, because I’m one of them." Join us in sharing some love and support for Alyssa and her family in the comments. 💜

PanCAN volunteers are hope in action. 💜 PurpleStriders leaders, Volunteer Advisory Council (VAC) members and National Volunteer Awards recipients from across the country recently came together in Dallas for our National Affiliate Forum. Together, they built connections, learned from one another, honored their whys and explored ways to lead with impact, raise mission-critical funds in their communities and advance PanCAN’s mission to turn science into survival. Each #PanCANvolunteer also received a heartfelt, handwritten note from a pancreatic cancer researcher or clinician, written weeks earlier at our Scientific Summit — a meaningful reminder that we’re all part of something bigger and that, all together, we can change the story of this disease. Strider Breana D. shares, "We’re back and raising money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in honor of my mom, Monika Donnelly. My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at just 49 years old, despite being incredibly healthy. Pancreatic cancer is often found late, in part because there’s no standard early detection test for the general population. The five-year survival rate is just 13%. We’re raising money to support breakthrough research, expand patient services and advocate for change that can improve survival rates. My mom was far too young, and we miss her so much. This is one way we can honor her and help other families facing this disease. I'm so proud to say that in just the past 3 years [at PanCAN PurpleStride], we've raised over $10,000 in honor of my mom. Our goal this year is $3,000." Join Breana in ending pancreatic cancer at our biggest community event of the year, #PanCANPurpleStride! 👟💜 Register today at 🔗 purplestride.org.

“Kelly was more than my best friend. She was my person, my confidant and my sounding board.” 💜 For #PanCANVolunteer Kecia S., pancreatic cancer has been part of her story since before she was born. Her grandfather was diagnosed two months before her birth and lived long enough to celebrate her first Christmas. Decades later, Kecia became the 24/7 caregiver for her best friend, Kelly, following her pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2022. “It was a silent monster.” Kelly survived for five months. During that time, Kecia cared for her through treatment and hospice, an experience she describes as “the honor of a lifetime.” “She embodied the word hero. She was courageous and did everything with class and dignity.” After Kelly’s death, Kecia knew she needed to channel her grief somewhere. Having spent so much time caring for her best friend, she wasn’t ready to stop. She connected with a PanCAN volunteer and found a way to continue caring for others in Kelly’s honor. “I needed to do something so I could still feel like I was taking care of Kelly. Volunteering with PanCAN is the way I can do it.” Today, Kecia helps bring the Pittsburgh PanCAN community together through #PanCANPurpleStride, serving as the Pittsburgh Affiliate’s Event Day Volunteer Chair. “Kelly’s life still matters. It still has purpose and has led to a ripple effect of caring.” Read Kecia’s story and learn how she continues to honor the people she loves through volunteering with PanCAN at 🔗 pcan.at/gaxde8ei.
