Who benefits when governments go digital, and who gets left behind?Today in Wajir, we asked residents.
With @NubianRights ,We hosted a mini-public on Digital Public Infrastructure, listening to concerns on privacy and trust. Their insights will inform research and policy briefs.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS π’
PARANET is inviting women and youth aspiring to contest in 2027 to apply for a 3-day leadership training in Wajir.
Send your application to [email protected] by 12th November 2026.
Paranet joined @NamatiKenya for its first-ever joint refresher, which brought together about 100 community paralegals from across its programs. We learned how grassroots movements create moments, about land tenure rights, and the link between an ID card and registering your land.
Paranet was glad to participate in the National Technical Workshop to Review, Validate and Finalize the Guidelines for the Registration of Births and Deaths of Special Groups in Kenya. The workshop brought stakeholders together to review all twelve chapters and harmonize SOPs.
As Kenya approaches the 2027 General Election, every citizen must be given an equal opportunity to participate, and the best leaders must be elected on merit. Clan-based negotiated democracy must never lock out the youth, women, persons with disabilities, or minority communities.
PARANET marched side by side with the community of Wajir today on International Identity Day. Together we walked through town to demand an end to long ID delays and full recognition of pastoralistsβ right to legal identity. No more waiting. No more invisibility. #MyIDMyRight
On the eve of #WorldIdentityDay, Paranet held a radio engagement centering on rural and pastoralist voices often left out of identity discussions. A space to listen and gather real feedback.
Inclusion isn't a slogan, it's a practice. π #myidmyright.
Applied in 1997. Approved in 2026.
Nearly 3 decades lost to Kenya's vetting system β a process that disproportionately burdens ethnic Somali Kenyans seeking the ID card they need to access basic services.
Community paralegals: closing the gap between the law and the people.
Having or not having an ID often defines the kind of life experiences one is likely to have.
For Adan Ibrahim from Wajir, the simple act of misfortune of losing his waiting card back in 1997 has thrust his daily life into an unending struggle in search for an ID.
#MyIDMyRight
We also brought community ambassadors into our offices to brainstorm solutions around access to legal identity.
Together, weβre tackling the barriers that prevent children from accessing education and healthcare. They are are now driving awareness through social media advocacy.
Today, we joined hands to celebrate the African Child Day with a powerful awareness walk!
Paranet marched alongside the community to spotlight the urgent need for legal identity for every child. Without it, access to education and healthcare remains a dream.#RighttoIdentity
On Day of the African Child,
Paranet reaffirms every childβs right to legal identity.
No child should be invisible. Every birth must be registered.
Every child deserves a name and a future. #RighttoIdentity

ParaNET proudly facilitated the latest Wajir Court Users Committee engagement after our official admission. We showcased our work on paralegal support, citizenship documentation, and community empowerment while engaging with justice actors to break barriers for pastoralists.
We conducted a successful community outreach in Kalkacha with the team from @NamatiKenya and the Council of Minorities from Bangladesh. We shared the full ID application process, provided hands-on guidance, and distributed application forms to community members.#myidmyright
We convened a Community forum in Barwaqo with @NamatiKenya and the Council of Minorities from Bangladesh. We discussed challenges surrounding citizenship documentation and listened to powerful stories of resilience, struggle, and hope. Real change begins when voices are heard.

Nubian Rights Forum convened Community Ambassadors to collaboratively draft memoranda on the proposed Kenya Registration of Persons (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration (Amendment) Bill, 2025. These submissions will champion equitable access to documentation, safeguard against discrimination, and push for inclusive citizenship frameworks. The fight for recognition and belonging continues.
