Join us for the final 18th & Vine Streetcar Study Open House on Tuesday, July 28th!

Last week, the Oversight Advisory Committee for the 18th & Vine Streetcar Study met for the final time ahead of the final public hearing on July 28. Community support for reconnecting Downtown Kansas City and the Historic 18th & Vine District through an east-west streetcar extension has been tremendous. Throughout the study process, residents, business owners, stakeholders, and visitors have consistently voiced support for improving connectivity, accessibility, and economic opportunity between these two destinations. Parsons + Associates has presented three potential alignment alternatives for consideration: 🚋 Alternative 1 – 18th Street Bi-Directional A traditional two-way streetcar operating along 18th Street between Downtown and 18th & Vine. 🚋 Alternative 2 – 18th–19th Street Clockwise Loop A one-way loop utilizing 18th Street eastbound and 19th Street westbound. 🚋 Alternative 3 – 18th–19th Street “Troost Loop” A variation of the loop concept that extends service south along Troost before returning west on 19th Street, providing additional access to destinations along the corridor. The final public hearing will be held on July 28, where community members will have an opportunity to review the alternatives, provide feedback, and help shape the future of this important connection between Downtown and 18th & Vine.
