#OnThisDay in 1919, Sir Godfrey Hounsfield was born. He was an electrical engineer who shared the 1979 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine with Allan McLeod Cormack for his part in developing the diagnostic technique of X-ray computed tomography. Let's commemorate his work!

In the 1970s, Frederick Sanger developed techniques to sequence DNA, for which he received his second #Nobel Prize. A couple of decades later #OTD 26 June 2000, came the announcement that the majority of the human genome had been sequenced.
