Crazy idea. Bungie unbans everyone ever. Starts a new ban list. Huge influx of players. Cheaters get banned again. Because it's crazy to think that the cheaters we have now haven't already been banned before. Are new people coming out of the woodwork just to cheat?
So many people might stop cheating if they know they have a chance at playing the game normally. And it would be a player revival just like the IP got revived. They wouldn't lose money
Obviously keep unbanned accounts on a shorter leash and have auto monitoring on them in case they go back to cheating

We have recently issued a large ban wave within Destiny 2 against accounts found to be violating terms of service either by cheating or by using account recovery, ban evasion, or boosting services. We have further investigated appeals to this wave to validate accuracy.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind all players to protect your account. Do not share your account credentials or use account recovery, boosting, or cheat services. This can open your account up to risk, such as being accessed (repeatedly) on hardware actively leveraging cheat tools or services even without your knowledge.
Additionally, we are continuing to investigate and action new cheats as they come online in Destiny 2. We have recently seen cheats spamming unearned rewards and XP on innocent accounts. Accounts leveraging these cheats in malicious ways have already been actioned. We always work to ensure that the cheating accounts are actioned, and innocent players who are not actively seeking these cheats or their benefits are not punished.

Heard a lot of people caught in the most recent ban who didn't do the free dlc trick described here. I'm assuming at least some were false banned but also sharing Dlc is a feature of Xbox and if that's even ban worthy. Kind of worrying if some were banned falsely
So we get the game that we paid for but nothing else really new except for the loot tied to those returning activities I guess. And then new games like Destiny 3?
Will a D2 remaster be enough to bring back old players though?
Especially if they don't bring back seasonal content
