I had a great time participating in the West Chamber of Commerce, West, Texas Meet the Candidate Forum this afternoon. It’s always encouraging getting to hear directly from the HD-56 constituents on community issues most dear to them. #txlege

Texans deserve transparency, accountability, and common-sense solutions, not astronomical increases in water meter rates without transparency and clear answers. Tonight, I spoke out against these increases for customers outside the City of Bruceville-Eddy city limits. Hardworking families and ranchers shouldn’t be left wondering why their bills are going up or how these rates are being determined. The people deserve answers, and Ratepayers deserve transparency and tonight that’s what they got through the meeting that the City Council organized for the citizens. I congratulate everyone involved, including the Council and the citizens for seeing a problem and working together on steps to fix it because that’s truly the best governance you could hope for! The Council apologized and voted, unanimously, to reset the rates and order a rate study to help everyone work towards the right solutions! #txlege

After a full day at the polls & time with the McLennan County Republican Club at lunch, I was pleased to head up to West tonight for the Kiwanis Annual Pancake Supper. Events like this truly display the beauty of real life in rural Texas and it’s a small sampling of why I’m so proud to be apart of this community. #txlege

Thank you to TCCRI for hosting today’s Energy Policy Summit and for bringing together leaders to talk about the future of energy in Texas. Texas has the resources, the workforce, and the know-how to remain the nation’s energy leader. Our job is to make sure we have reliable, affordable power to keep our economy growing. That means embracing new technologies, cutting unnecessary red tape, and letting the free market work. I enjoyed the discussion on energy innovation and the opportunities ahead. As we head into the 90th Legislative Session, I’ll continue fighting for common-sense policies that keep energy affordable, support Texas jobs, and protect our taxpayers. #txlege

There we enjoyed hearing Congressman Pete Sessions share a legislative update and looking ahead, along with a fireside chat with Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. I enjoyed kicking off my morning with a tour of Jessup Housing here in Waco alongside Representative David Cook! Jessup is making a real impact in our community through local manufacturing, job creation, and expanding access to attainable homeownership. Companies like Jessup are an important part of keeping our local economy strong and creating opportunities for Texas families. Thank you to the Jessup team for the warm welcome and for all you do for our community! #txlege

Today I was honored to get out and knock some doors for my friend & colleague State Representative Lacey Hull. Texas is one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family and we need to all pitch in to make sure it stays that way! #txlege

It was a privilege to spend time with the MCC Presidential Scholars and share a little about our community, our state, and the opportunities ahead for the next generation of leaders. A special thank you to my friend Johnette McKown for the invitation and, as always, for her friendship and leadership. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful conversation. I’m incredibly thankful for what McLennan Community College means to our area. MCC has been a tremendous asset to Central Texas, opening doors, preparing students for successful careers, and strengthening our community in countless ways. Our future is bright, and it was encouraging to spend time with some of the young people who will help shape it. #txlege

Hey HD-56, weather is changing quickly, and road conditions can change just as fast. As storms move across Central and East Texas, please slow down, drive to conditions, and never drive around a barricade or through flooded roadways.Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Before you head out, check current road conditions, closures, construction and emergency travel information at DriveTexas.org or download the new DriveTexas mobile app for real-time updates right on your phone.Stay safe and give yourself extra time when traveling today and through the weekend. #txlege

A day in the life at the Capitol is rarely about just one issue: it’s about showing up, listening, and working to serve the people who sent you here. Yesterday included important conversations on school safety, navigating transportation challenges facing communities across our state, celebrating my deskmate Tom Craddick’s birthday, and taking time to answer calls from constituents back home. Every day brings different challenges, but the responsibility remains the same: listen, work hard, and do everything I can to make Texas a better place for our families and communities.Grateful for the opportunity to serve. #txlege
