3,500 young people participated in the 1st year of SYEP Pride -the LGBTQ+ initiative in @NYCYouth Summer Youth Employment Program, it is the *largest* #LGBTQ workforce program in the world + in history. I’m incredibly proud to have created this program with @NYCMayor’s support.
We’re so proud to have the WORLD’S largest LGBTQ+ youth workforce program right here in NYC. 🏳️‍🌈 Our administration is supporting young LGBTQ+ New Yorkers by delivering welcoming and affirming job opportunities as they begin their careers. Hear more:

Finally!!! 🐴 💕 🎉 For too long, horses have been forced to live and work in inhumane conditions to pull carriages through Central Park and chaotic NYC traffic. The end is finally in sight!!
The @NYCCouncil just passed Romanch’s Law! Today’s historic vote marks our commitment to animal welfare, public safety, and protecting workers. Thank you to my colleagues, the advocates, and the countless New Yorkers who have worked for years to make this day possible.

The death penalty is a violation of human rights, no matter what. Livestreaming the taking of a life by firing squad would only compound the cruelty of this inhuman punishment. bit.ly/3UfO1Uc

🗽 💕 “New York's economy is growing faster than any other state in the nation — and we made it happen by driving innovation, creating good jobs and investing in our communities” - @GovKathyHochul
New York had the fastest-growing economy of any state in the country in Q2 of 2026. Let me say that again: #1 in the nation.

Two-thirds of New Yorkers think about being gay or know someone who is 🌈
Loving this new “someone I know might be thinking about doing something” era of public policy research. When facts & data don’t meet your narrative, just ask people about hypothetical intentions. If that’s still not enough, ask if they know anyone with hypothetical intentions.

❤️ “As the years passed by, the anniversaries grew heavier: first, fifth, tenth. But alongside the sorrow, there was also hope and strength.” - @SusanWatts3
Susan is an invaluable member of our team, and like so many New Yorkers, she carries September 11 with her every day.

Twenty-five years ago, she was a Daily News photographer documenting the unimaginable as the towers fell.

Today, she is still telling New York’s story through her lens. nydailynews.com/2026/09/11/a…

If ever you start to lose faith in the world, I recommend standing outside a @NYCSchools building on the first day of the year, as all the globe's children--and their adoring parents--place a bet on the future. It will make your day.

New York Plate LHX-9101. Walking down Madison and 72nd Street handholding my boyfriend and this guy driving this car screamed “f*cking f*ggot” at us as he turned the corner. Hate and homophobia is not acceptable anywhere. Especially here in NYC.

🗽“While Washington remains mired in division and dysfunction, we are still showing that government can work for the people.” - @GovKathyHochul
Five years ago today, I became Governor of the state I’ve called home my entire life. A lot has changed since then, but what drives me hasn’t: Making life better for New Yorkers. We’ve accomplished a lot together. And I’m still just as determined to get up every day and keep fighting for you.

“Going to slaughter is happening now. If you don’t stop it, it’s just a vicious circle that will never end. That’s what some people need to understand. It’s not that they will go to slaughter, they’ve been going to slaughter.”
Susan Wagner, the president and founder of Equine Advocates in Chatham, New York, a constituent sanctuary of the coalition, scoffed at carriage industry concerns, alleging that the industry is presently sending horses to slaughter. @EquineAdvocates “One of the questions that a lot of people don’t seem to realize when they say, ‘well, if this happens, what will happen to the horses?’” Wagner began. “Going to slaughter is happening now. If you don’t stop it, it’s just a vicious circle that will never end. That’s what some people need to understand. It’s not that they will go to slaughter, they’ve been going to slaughter.” Wagner said she was referencing Freedom of Information records from 2005 to 2012, which show that about 70 horses departed the industry each year. Equine Advocates, the largest sanctuary of the coalition, currently houses 82 horses, and Wagner said it has the capacity to take eight more. Of the 82, two are former carriage horses — Jack and Mark, from New York and Philadelphia, acquired in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Wagner says she was troubled by the state of their health when the sanctuary took them in. “When Jack first came, his feet were in such bad shape. It took our farrier three years to get them back to normal.” w42st.com/post/as-carriage-b…

💕 “‘What is it that you like about your job?’ And I said, ‘Well, the truth is, you lose 5 out of 6 battles. But when you have that one battle that you win, and you know you could impact 10 million people overnight, there's nothing sweeter.’ I like the challenge.” - @LizKrueger
"Fuck this, we’re getting better" "I’m an anarchist. You can’t keep me here if I don’t want to be here." "They’re like, 'Yeah, you’re not supposed to be able to recover this fast.' I said, 'I’ll take it.'" A lot of great lines in our latest interview with Senator Liz Krueger, who is ready to get back to work after suffering a stroke in April. cityandstateny.com/personali…

Working New Yorkers already do their part. That’s why I made sure owners of ultra-luxury second homes contribute more to the city that makes New York the greatest in the world.
If you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you’re back in the five boroughs — because you've got mail. Today, we sent notification letters to property owners, letting them know that our new pied-à-terre tax is coming soon. The best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That's only possible when we all pay our fair share.
