The Ashville community is in the fight of their lives to protect their local water supply and the Teays Valley aquifer which is estimated to supply water to nearly 4 million Ohio residents. In late August, Chemical exposure expert Stephen Petty submitted expert testimony to the Ohio Power Siting Board regarding serious potential contamination concerns for the Teays Valley aquifer and Ashville’s municipal water supply. Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom also submitted testimony calling for a halt on all construction until proper water safety assessments were done and made available to the public. Yesterday, Senator Reynolds called on the OPBS and the EPA to “require an independent assessment of the potential effects on the aquifer and on public water supplies and private wells before approving this project.
