Another EU tragedy.

Iām at a Steve where Iāve invested so much time in Hermes Agent that I want it to succeed but I canāt help to notice that systems like Grok Bot are rapidly getting all the features⦠but without the bugs.
Bot mod ? Yeah itās there. But if a card gets blocked or has an error ? Your bot never finds out, it just stays stuck.
Sure you can go to the Kanban view and unblock it, right ? Right. Except thereās no fucking Kanban view when youāre in bot mode.
Live / duplex chat is cool right ? You can talk back & forth with a model, interrupt it and it creates cards for your requests, just like in grok bot.
And Hermes is open source so surely you can use any provider for that right ?
Well you can, after 12 hours of agent prompting to create a plugin AND a fork of Hermes. Fork that will disappear and need to be re-applied after the next update.
Configure a bot and activate plugins for it ? Great, itāll work right ? Well, not exactly. Your plugin can be activated for a bot, work and still not show up in the interface. Why ? Because it needs to be activated 3 times : for the plugin, for the gateway and for the desktop app.
Obviously none of that is located at the same place. So you send 5 fucking messages and screenshots to your agents telling them that yes, itās activated but no itās still not working.
After 30 minutes, you and the agent find out that it was the other plugin activation that was needed, not gateway, not bot, but the desktop plugin activation this time.
Itās all so tiresome having to waste countless hours just due to bad UI/UX. I suppose that the UI is āgood enoughā for people who have followed the development cycles from the start but not for others.
Theyāll say Iām a damn normie thatās just too stupid for the product, and maybe I am, even though I do a LOT with Hermes. But even my dev friends and my CTO have a hard time using it.
Even the freaking search bar is broken on the desktop app : type in āvoice oAuthā for a plugin called āGrok Voice oAuthā, no results found. Type in āGrokā ?
10s of plugins that donāt have grok in their name will appear first and after scrolling for a while, youāll find your plugin called āGrok Voice oAuthĀ Ā» from the start.
Itās like if you allowed devs to merge stuff but thereās no product owner on the project. A lot of things āwork for themā but in certain cases, certain configurations and nothing is tested.
Sure itās open source so I can build my own implementation in order to get fixes that work. But thatās literally what people are complaining about : you need to be tweaking everything for it to work, even for basic stuff.
She required fewer words than me to say it :
Thatās it. Gotta be a CEO with a great execution team.
Only problem is you need to beat yourself up for >10 years until you reach the point where you can actually shine as yourself.

If you live in a cave, know that every technology that runs the internet is being hacked as we speak. 90% of the internet is under attack.
These are not isolated incidents. This is cyber war.
Powers are fighting and your data, money and services are the casualties. Good luck!
Bros be like āIām glad the EU forced Apple to use USB-c on their phonesā.
Bro forgets USB-c wouldnāt exist if Apple hadnāt invented the lightning port : capable of transmitting power, music, data and reversible.
Not complaining that everything runs on USB-c, just stating facts
Been trying it out this morning and it's freaking awesome. Finally an iOS app for Hermes that looks and feels good. Absolute game changer !!!
Hermes Bots aka Herald is finally going to Apple for reviewš
Apologies for the delay
I could have shipped it earlier, but I wanted Herald to be something I'd actually be proud to charge for
I received 200+ feedback from people testing Herald. I went through them, kept building, fixing, polishing, and I've finally implemented everything from that list
And if you get it and something still isn't good enough?
Tell me. I'll fix it and keep shipping
I also asked testers a question:
"Would you pay for Herald, and if so, how much?"
Around 140 said yes, with answers ranging from $9.99 to $24.99
So I've made my decision:
Herald will be $12.99. One time
No monthly subscription.
Why not open source this one?
Most of what I build is open but Herald is different: shipping and supporting a native app across 6 platforms is a full-time job, and charging once is how I keep doing it properly instead of letting it rot
The things I open source stay open. This one pays for the time.
For that, you get Herald across:
- iPhone & iPhone Duo
- iPad
- Apple Watch
- CarPlay
- Android
- Android Auto
I know $12.99 won't be for everyone, and that's completely fine. I'd rather charge a fair one-time price and keep making Herald better for the people who find value in it.
P.S. I'm still looking for iOS testers
Letās go and transform my Dreame robot vacuum cleaner into a WiFi music speaker that can follow me around the house.
Ok civil war might actually be starting.
