Werder Bremen has canceled its planned trip to the United States for May 2026, citing the “political situation in the country” as the reason.
The club’s management stated that the current political climate in the U.S. and Trump’s policies are incompatible with Werder Bremen’s democratic values.

This is incredible.
These Palestine Action activists have long been in prison over direct action against genocide.
A jury has refused to convict them.
You can see why the Starmer government wants to scrap trial by jury!

*BREAKING*. As the world’s gaze turns to Greenland, Israel “bulldozes” UNWRA in occupied E.Jerusalem.
UNRWA reports that Israeli forces "stormed into" its premises in occupied East Jerusalem this morning.
Statement goes on to say bulldozers then entered and began demolishing buildings inside the compound, which is "a United Nations site."
UNWRA describes it as an "Unprecedented attack" against the agency, and "constitutes a serious violation of international law, and the privileges and immunities of the United Nations."
A spokesperson said, “This should be a wake-up call. What happens today to UNRWA can happen tomorrow to any other international organisation or diplomatic mission around the world."*

Premier of Greenland 🇬🇱 statement this morning;
This morning, I am both saddened and grateful 🇬🇱
Saddened, because during a press conference last night, the President of the United States once again expressed a desire to take over Greenland. With such statements, our country is reduced to a question of security and power. That is not how we see ourselves, and it is not how Greenland can or should be spoken about.
We are a people with a long history, a strong culture, and a vibrant democracy. We are a country with responsibility for our own territory and for our own future. Our territorial integrity and our right to self-determination are firmly anchored in international law and cannot simply be ignored.
That is also why I am grateful.
Thank you to everyone here at home for the clear support and unity that has been shown. The calmness and dignity with which you have met this situation send a strong signal of a people who stand firm in their values and in their responsibility.
I would also like to thank heads of government and partners around the world who have clearly and unequivocally expressed their respect for Greenland, for our democratic institutions, and for the fundamental principles of international law. That support confirms that we here at home do not stand alone.
Once again: Greenland is our country. Decisions are made here. And I will at all times fight for our freedom and our right to decide for ourselves and to shape our own future.
For now, I hope that the peace of Christmas can settle over us all.
Merry Christmas 🇬🇱💙🇬🇱

Statue of a woman named Danuta Danielsson in Sweden who became a hero in 1985...
In 1985, during a march organized by the Nordic Reich Party in Växjö, Sweden, a woman named Danuta Danielsson stepped out of the crowd and struck a neo Nazi demonstrator with her handbag. The moment lasted only seconds, but it would become one of the most recognizable images of civilian resistance in modern European history.
The photograph was taken by press photographer Hans Runesson and shows Danielsson mid swing as the uniformed marcher recoils. It was not staged, symbolic, or planned. It was instinctive. Danielsson had no political platform, no organization behind her, and no intention of becoming a public figure. She was reacting in real time to the sight of open fascism marching through her city.
Danielsson was the daughter of a Holocaust survivor who had endured imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp. For her, the march was not abstract ideology or historical reenactment. It was a direct echo of lived trauma. Friends later said she was deeply affected by the demonstration and acted out of personal pain rather than political calculation.
The image spread internationally and became a visual shorthand for everyday courage. A single unarmed civilian confronting hatred without permission or protection. In Sweden, the photograph entered textbooks, exhibitions, and public debate about resistance, memory, and moral responsibility.
Decades later, a statue depicting Danielsson with her raised handbag was proposed and eventually installed near the site of the march. While some controversy surrounded whether she would have wanted the attention, the statue came to represent something larger than the individual. It honored the idea that resistance does not always come from leaders or movements, but from ordinary people refusing to stay silent in the face of hate.
Danuta Danielsson struggled with mental health later in life and never sought fame for the act. Her family has emphasized that the moment should be remembered not as violence, but as a spontaneous human response to the return of an ideology that once destroyed her family.

The problem is there aren't enough appointments, so explain how online consultations increases that number?
It doesnt
We've lost 2,000 GP surgeries since 2010. What we need are more GPs and more GP surgeries, not more ways to access the limited number of appointments available.

Today could - and should - have been a watershed moment for the 97 and their families.
A moment when, finally, some of those responsible were confronted with the truth they've spent decades avoiding.
Instead, it feels like another missed opportunity. After a 13-year investigation, the IOPC's report is too little, too late.
It tells us nothing the Hillsborough families haven't carried with them for years: that their loved ones were catastrophically failed - and then vilified in a disgraceful cover-up.
The truth remains: 97 innocent people - British citizens - were unlawfully killed. Yet no individual or institution has ever been held accountable through our justice system.
There's been no collective responsibility for the catastrophic failures that led to the disaster.
No reckoning for the officers who shirked their duties and led a campaign to blame Liverpool supporters. And no closure for the families who've fought with dignity, strength and courage. Justice remains agonisingly out of reach.
The legacy of the 97 must now be justice in law. The Hillsborough Law - currently progressing through Parliament - would help ensure that no other bereaved families are ever forced to endure such a prolonged, unconscionable ordeal.
