Leadership is a skill that can be developed. Learn from the good (and bad) leaders around you! Great discussion. Thanks for everyone’s insight. #CTCareers

Be purposeful about everything. You will set the standard and then it will become routine. Treat others how you want to be treated. You also only get one chance to make a first impression. It’s hard for everyone at first. Lean into the hard. #ctcareers

T4 - you have to be honest with yourself. You have to admit to yourself if you are nervous or scared. You don’t have to admit to any or everyone. Also, you can’t just be angry. You will lose your team quick. #ctcareers

T3 - I think this is easier if you are brought in with a leadership expectation or are bringing a completely new skill set to the institution. That beings said, it starts with leading by example and striving for excellence in all you do. People always respond to that. #ctcareers

T2 - Know yourself - you have to know your communication strengths and weaknesses. KYP - Know your people - you will learn how best to communicate and motivate your team as you work with them more and get to know them. #ctcareers

If you acknowledge that other people are speaking to you, they will do the same. You set the standard and others will follow. #ctcareers

This seems to be a well thought out opinion on DC statehood. I have not verified the historical facts, but if they are true, this seems logical.
🧵 1/ If the residents of DC want to be part of a state, the solution is *not* DC statehood Any solution should involve reverting land ceded by Maryland for the creation of DC—excepting only a narrow corridor encompassing the White House, Capitol, & Supreme Court—to Maryland

This is a perfect example of hidden change that hurts patients. All physicians should be making this an issue that needs to be corrected.
Almost anyone can own a hospital ... except a physician.

To be comfortable as an attending physician one must have spent a lot of time being uncomfortable as a trainee. Making training comfortable means a lot of discomfort when on your own.
“I’m not comfortable taking care of this patient” Get comfortable then. It’s going to be like this for the next decade.
