Can a street revolt win an election? Europe finds out on Sunday. Serbia's students spent 2 years in blockades, beatings and building a candidate list that is leading in the polls against Vučić. Europe's youth have a lot to learn from Serbia's student movement.

On October 30, we shut down the war machine. Global Sumud Flotilla is joining forces with dockworkers across 100+ ports and 18 trade unions worldwide. From land to sea, we are stopping the logistics of destruction. No labor for war cargo. No silence for illegal blockades. Join the Global Day of Action. Break the chain of destruction.

Attacks on women in politics are unacceptable. It is attacks such as these that will continue to discourage women from entering into politics and participating in politics equally and fully. It is such a serious problem worldwide that the mandate dedicated a stand-alone report for it in the past: ohchr.org/en/documents/thema… States must tackle this type for violence once and for all more decisively, making it clear that there is no place in society for such crimes. Solidarity with Ms. Haines and her family.
The Australian lawmaker hit by a car in an allegedly deliberate attack has now had both her legs amputated, her husband of 40 years Phil Haines announced. cnn.it/3VYSKtX

This is historic. The number of dockworkers set to go on strike on 30 October is expanding rapidly. Some 50 ports will now be shut down, not only on the Mediterranean, but also in Ireland, India and Mexico. The global movement against militarism and war is entering a new phase.

I'm old enough to remember Ukraine before February 2022. Before the great PR makeover. Before billions in British public money started flowing. Before the swastikas were quietly airbrushed out of the picture and yesterday's neo-Nazi problem became today's inconvenient history. Back in January 2015, Ross Kemp travelled to Ukraine for his Extreme World documentary series, investigating the rise of the far right and the Azov Battalion, including its neo-Nazi elements and symbolism. This was British mainstream television, not Russian propaganda. Funny how quickly history gets rewritten when the geopolitical interests change and the public chequebook comes out. Of course, Ukraine's corruption, extremist movements and internal divisions didn't magically disappear in February 2022. But suddenly, mentioning what British journalists had openly reported for years was enough to get you branded a Kremlin sympathiser. Well, here's Ross Kemp reporting from Ukraine in 2015, long before the political rebranding. No Russian bots. No Kremlin script. Just the history they would rather you didn't remember.

I wrote a full, detailed account of the October 16 settler and soldier attack on the olive harvest in Abu Falah. I think it may be the most important thing I’ve ever written. “The Palestinians Who Rescued Heidi Levine” Link in next tweet.

Marco Rubio wants the West to rediscover what made it great. But what truly distinguishes Western civilization is not its military power or national pride, as Rubio suggests, but its intellectual and political traditions. My take:

Oh, sweetheart, that’s exactly what empires do. Always have, always will. They’ll squeeze every last drop out of Ukraine in their little geopolitical chess match with Russia. And once Ukraine runs out of fresh meat for the grinder in their glorious crusade against the Russian bear, they’ll toss it aside like a used napkin and cut a cozy little deal with Putin. Business as usual. Empires don’t do loyalty, darling. They do transactions. It’s called reality. You’re welcome to accept it or keep living in your adorable little fantasyland. Reality, unfortunately, doesn’t give a flying fuck about your wishful thinking. So how about you stop feeding Ukrainians into the meat grinder, put down your imperial cosplay props, and sit your ass down to sign a goddamn peace deal? ---- Zelensky: We cannot accept diesel deals, these arrangements, because then there will be gas agreements. I'm sure of that. Sanctions will be lifted after gas.

Quite the statement, weeks after the US has literally taken over parts of Greenland in perpetuity. And while Denmark keeps buying all sorts of stuff from the US, at inflated prices.
Denmark’s PM Mette Frederiksen: Russia wants to take over parts of Europe. They are willing to go very far to achieve that. When you buy from the Russians, you finance the Russian war machine.

The silent war is the robbery of the century. Who decides how the money is being spent? To better understand this, watch this video youtube.com/watch?v=x3TJFoQW…
I feel so sad. That is my dear Brussels, the capital of the EU. There is a silent war unfolding in Europe, and we need to recognise it. No “EU house plan”, financial support for electricity bills, or any other isolated measure will be enough to save the EU if its leaders continue to ignore what is happening on the ground. Please, @vonderleyen @eucopresident take a step back. Look at what is happening in our countries and how the EU is being manipulated from all directions. Because I travel so much, I see the reality on the ground. People are losing their jobs. They are being fired. And honestly, even during communism, I never saw so many people searching through rubbish bins for things to survive as I do today. Look at the statistics. 1/1

The US is going to buy now the cheap oil and gas from Russia and sell it more expensive to Europe🤡 teapaw.org/TrumpTruthOnX/status/2…
🚨 BREAKING: The Kremlin just dropped major details from the Trump-Putin phone call. Huge geopolitical shifts in motion. 🇷🇺🇺🇸 Here are the massive takeaways you need to know: 🛢️ OPENING THE TAPS: Russia confirmed it is officially ready to supply oil and petroleum products to both the U.S. and global markets. 📈 ECONOMIC IMPACT: Putin stated that bringing Russian oil into the American market will have a positive effect on the entire global economy. 🇺🇦 UKRAINE CRISIS: "Significant attention" during their conversation was dedicated to discussing the prospects of finally settling the war in Ukraine. 🕵️‍♂️ INTEL & GOV COOPERATION: According to the Kremlin, Trump and Putin agreed to keep up their personal contacts and establish ongoing cooperation between their administrations, government agencies, and intelligence services. On the day the Nobel peace prize recognises international judge Navi Pillay, the US announces institutional sanctions against the ICC.   I am writing this from Nuremberg where 80 years ago, American judges and lawyers played a crucial role in trying the highest Nazi leaders and commanders, and establishing the foundational principles of international criminal law.  80 years later, what a betrayal.  The Trump administration’s decision is appalling.  But ultimately, it is not about them. It is about us. The US grotesque decision is a test for all European governments which have been tiptoeing, shying away from confronting and responding to the predatory actions from the trump administration.  They now need to rise to the moment. History demands of Europe that it stands for international justice and its institutions.  There is only one possible response: impose immediately blocking orders. The US sanctions cannot and should not be implemented on European territory.  This is not a USA moment. This is a “Us” moment. Let’s rise to it.  Because humanity must win.  reuters.com/world/us-imposes…

This is embarrassing for the Western world. To demand that Russia “must” accept an unconditional ceasefire from a position of strength — which no Western nation would EVER do — embarrasses us for its naivete. All this does is make Russia look with greater contempt upon the West, and give us no credibility, and also push them into concluding that only an eventual military victory on the battlefield is achievable. The West writ large is deal-incapable And Ukraine, and their people, will pay the bloody cost for the arrogance and incompetence of the West.
51 countries are united today in our support for Ukraine at the UN General Assembly. Since March 2025, Ukraine has agreed to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire. We call on Russia to finally do the same. Ukraine wants peace. We want peace. Russia must stop its aggression, accept a ceasefire, and engage meaningfully in negotiations towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law.

Alastair Crooke (@AWCrooke): There is no world order left to restore. The West knocked legal and moral norms aside. What remains is dollar coercion and the bomb. Eurasia can build a defensive order first: escape from the dollar and from sanctions, not a concert of powers. “Yes, the world order, well, there is no world order now. It’s been completely trashed. I think that underlying this is the fact that, particularly in the West, we’ve lost the sense of moral values. We’ve let them go. We have only fragments of them. And so when you have no moral values—none of the values which came historically to us from what it means to be human, from what our civilizations told us, those narratives, those myths, those stories that gave the moral architecture to life and to society—we live by those narratives. They formed us and shaped us, and now they’re mostly gone, and we live in a rather crassly material, mechanically rationalist world, and those values are no longer present. It’s all about power and coercion. And so we have a world order that values nothing: legal norms, the norms of morality, the civilizational structures that used to attach to the West are now replaced by bombing of civilian areas, by threatening financial ruin on societies, by actually threatening even to annihilate civilizations. How do you have a world order in this construct? It’s very difficult, because the underpinning commonality of values is just not there anymore. The Russians believe they have values held in common. It’s also an Orthodox Christian state. But quite clearly it’s no longer the case. Those values and those underpinnings have gone. And so what the other states—China, Russia, Iran, India and others—can do is really not to have a proper multipolar order. The best they can do, probably, is to have a deterrence, a defensive order: an order whose prime purpose is to escape from the hegemony of the dollar, to escape from the hegemony of sanctions, to escape from all of those elements. So we are left, therefore, in a world of geopolitical confusion and immorality, with no morals, no sort of final hurdles to clear. They’ve all been cleared. All of the legal norms have been just knocked aside. Moral norms knocked aside. Children, women being killed en masse didn’t matter. All of these things have really made the possibility of having some sort of concert of powers come into existence almost impossible to imagine beyond the sort of defensive element. And that, of course, is where kinetic defense comes into play: to have enough missiles, to have enough means of projecting power. You need these to compensate for the fact that there’s no common language, no common basis for a multi-global order. So the old order is definitely gone, and the new one is probably going to take shape, but it won’t come smoothly. It won’t flow into a new world order, because I think it’ll be very disruptive. We’ve got to go through a process of catharsis, constructive destruction first. And so the destruction is taking place in the Middle East, with Iran changing the whole global order in the Middle East, and with Russia and China changing the global order in Eurasia. So yes, we’re getting there, but it’s going to take some time before that happens. What are the conditions to make that happen? Well, really, either there has to be some form of economic implosion in the West that deprives it of its dollar hegemony and its ability to sanction people, to coerce people through the financial system, or else there’s going to be a geopolitical collapse in the West. But that is still going to mean we’re going to have to move through a rather difficult, turbulent geopolitical process which will be very dangerous and very concerning for people, because it may produce all sorts of unexpected and dangerous outcomes.” The concert is finished. Settlement outside the dollar is the first architecture that can exist. The physical economy will settle the rest.

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention is appalled by the proposed sale of $2.8 billion in heavy weapons to Israel that was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on 15 September 2026. The sale would take place via the U.S. Foreign Military Financing mechanism, which allows foreign countries to use U.S. taxpayer dollars to purchase weapons from U.S. companies. This arms transfer is one of the largest transfers of heavy weapons to Israel in U.S. history. It is out of step with American public opinion and constitutes a direct threat to international peace and security. Over the past two years, Israel and the U.S. have purposefully and publicly shifted the overton window on how much impunity a state can enjoy to commit war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Throughout all of this, world leaders and international institutions have refused to call Israel and the U.S. to account. They have handed Prime Minister Netanyahu a blank cheque to continue to violate the Genocide Convention, the Hague Conventions, and the Geneva Conventions. Now, he appears to be preparing to cash that cheque in an effort to achieve his dual goals of Greater Israel and increased Israeli influence over the Middle East, the South Caucasus, and corridors to Central Asia. It is obvious what must happen next. Given the clear signs of a serious risk for escalating mass atrocity, State Parties to the Genocide Convention have an obligation to take action to prevent the U.S. and Israel from using these weapons to continue to commit genocide in Palestine and to expand destruction to the rest of the Middle East, ushering in what will most certainly become a World War. “They call us terrorists? Look at these children. They bombed them and killed them. They had committed no crime. They were innocent.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the United States and Israel at the UN General Assembly today, accusing them of killing innocent Iranian children and being the real terrorists. Holding up images of children who had been killed in US-Israeli attacks, Pezeshkian condemned the bombing of schools, sports facilities, hospitals and civilian infrastructure. “Those who are terrorists and train terrorists tell us that we are terrorists. We are only defending ourselves. We are not terrorists.” Pezeshkian insisted that Iran would not bow to foreign aggression, declaring that a nation unable to defend itself would be crushed.
