Average room accuracy: 60%. Spotting occlusion MI on an ECG is harder than it looks. 🫀

“I’m good at this, but my colleagues could benefit from this AI.”
A sentiment we often hear at conferences. Yet ECG quizzes and studies consistently reveal a gap between perceived and actual ability to recognize STEMI/OMI.
Recognizing our own limitations takes humility.

Among 1,198,544 pts in the #CathPCIRegistry, 15% w/ #NSTEMI had an acute coronary occlusion (ACO) w/ worse in-hospital outcomes than NSTEMI w/ no ACO (adj OR, 2.26) but better than #STEMI. ACO NSTEMI is high risk & warrants earlier recognition. #JACCINT

Massive NCDR registry study showing that ~40,000 acute occlusion MI patients in the US face delayed care each year, with worse outcomes. We now have FDA-authorized AI capable of identifying these patients on their very first ECG. The opportunity to transform care is enormous.

Pleased to share our DIFOCCULT-3 substudy in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.
In 4,398 patients without diagnostic STE, OMI/NOMI triage doubled ACO identification within 2 h without reducing angiographic yield.
