The fine, strong synthetic fibres of this lethal 'web' are difficult for animals to see at dusk and can quickly wrap around their legs, wings, and neck, trapping and killing birds, insects and mammals.
When Eden the hedgehog struggled to free herself the web tightened, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
Can you imagine the pain and sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless, only an inch above the ground but suffering slow strangulation.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
Tragically her constriction injuries were too severe to survive, and poor Eden had to be put to sleep.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, I beg you - take it down now.
Please spread this vital information, and help save lives.

Last weekend, during the storms, a stray tomcat who had been fed & watched over by local people finally sought shelter inside a house. He had avoided capture for a long time but Lizzy, from South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue, seized the opportunity to get him to safety
🏥It was immediately clear he was desperately unwell. Transferred into our care, he went straight to our Vets. We named him Bobtail because of his short tail🏥
🩺He was painfully thin, extremely pale, severely dehydrated & in kidney failure. We hoped that fluids & supportive treatment might give his kidneys a chance to recover🩺
For 4 days our Veterinary team did everything they could
🌈Sadly, Bobtail didn’t improve. Repeat blood tests showed his condition had worsened despite treatment. On Veterinary advice we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully🌈
We do not know his history but it’s possible Bobtail began life as someone’s much-loved kitten
Unneutered males can roam far from home, driven by the urge to mate & defend territory, facing fights, injuries & illness along the way
‼️PLEASE NEUTER YOUR CATS. It can prevent so much suffering‼️
There is another difficult side to this story. Emergency treatment, hospitalisation & tests come at a huge cost, even when we don’t get the outcome we desperately want
Fundraising for stray & feral cats is difficult enough. When there is no happy ending or recovery photo to share, it becomes harder still. The Veterinary bills remain & Bobtail deserved every chance we could give him
