Today is the International Day Against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property. Through our Cultural Property Experts On Call (CPEOC) Program, we partner with @HeritageAtState's Cultural Heritage Coordinating Committee (CHCC) on efforts to stop cultural trafficking.
The Program identifies objects under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Art Crime Team; Homeland Security Investigations's Cultural Property, Art, and Antiquities Program; and the National Targeting Center’s Antiquities Unit at Customs and Border Protection.
The CPEOC Program has consulted more than 200 subject matter experts (SMEs) from more than 100 museums and universities to identify thousands of cultural objects. We are grateful to our on-call SMEs, as well as to funding from @US_IMLS, for supporting this critical work.
