Bohemian rhapsody for postdocs:
Is this a real job?
Or more like a PhD?
Caught in short contracts
No chance of stability
Open your eyes
Look up to PIs and see
I'm just a postdoc
I get no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Stress is high
Pay is low

Something I would happily pay for : a News Channel with absolutely ZERO sport GUARANTEED. Not only I don't care (I never did), but it actually annoys me tremendously. Oh, and more (good) science reporting.
Congrats to @Jelmer_Renema from #utwente and colleagues from #USTC China on their paper in Phys. Rev. A (doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.103…) on how to efficiently benchmark the quality of quantum interference in a Boson sampler!
Let's end the year with a smile! (what you see are ultrashort spatio-temporal foci behind a square-core multimode fiber made with our new technique just published in Opt. Express doi.org/10.1364/OE.412714) #utwente #optics #photonics #physics
Our paper (Marakis et al., lnkd.in/d5Yeuv5) on deterministic scattering media made it on a cover of Advanced Optical materials! @NanoscribeGmbH
Proud on our paper on deterministic multiple-scattering media that has recently been published in Advanced Optical Materials. A news item can be found here: lnkd.in/dw6Ht2W

Helemaal mee eens!

Looks like the worst kept secret in quantum technology has finally leaked into the mainstream press ahead of publication. While this is a milestone, it is *very* far from being a quantum computer that can compute anything useful. ft.com/content/b9bb4e54-dbc1…

Well deserved attention for this beautiful and inventive work. One kilo citations, congrats!
A landmark paper -which opened a whole new field of research- reach a landmark citation count!

ING, my Dutch bank wants me to tell them if I have specific connections with the US. If so, I cannot use certain financial products! Weird.
