From @KyushuUniv_EN (Japan): an optical illusion where in a series of three flashes, the third distorts our perception of the second flash. It moves the second flash between the first and third, no matter where it actually occurred!

Change detection versus change localization for faces, houses, and words. @PerceptionSAGE
Faces: change detection > change localization.
Houses: change localization > change detection.
Words: change detection = change localization.

Glad to have my new paper accepted at @PerceptionSAGE today! My student and I found that the valence of the surrounding items (from animals to flowers) and faces (with formed emotion info from affective knowledge) can affect the perception of a face. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.…

I see! This is intriguing indeed. How about this one? (We are about to test on this one)

Look at the image below. Do the circles look aligned or misaligned?
We stumbled upon this interesting optical illusion that appears to be related to depth perception. Report now published in @PerceptionSAGE

The circles are supposed to be aligned 😜

Our earlier work suggested a link between Ebbinghaus illusion & V1 surface area. Tasi @PWBUrale looked at this from another angle, suggesting that illusion strength depends on cortical distance between targets & inducers. Now out in @PerceptionSAGE

'Perceptual gravity'
a) The small dots on the left are parallel to the small dots on the right — but they don't look that way, do they?
b) Naito and Cole (1994) call this 'perceptual gravity' — as if each big dot is pulling in its little dot by some kind of gravitational force!

Accidental illusion by yours truly. Some people initially see this slice of lemon tart as short and wide (almost a quarter of a circle), but it's actually tall and thin (huge layer or meringue).
