The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners recognized Board Chairman Jerry Allender for his many contributions to the Port District Community over his 28 years of service including as Chairman six different times – 1990, 1991, 2015, 2016, 2022 and 2026. It was a poignant and emotional moment as Chairman Allender was joined by his wife, children and grandchildren at his final Board meeting and received multiple standing ovations during this last meeting of his elected official career. Chairman Allender leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness and respect for others while embodying the Port’s values of integrity and ethics and never-ending commitment to serving our community. Thank you, Chairman Allender, for your multitude of contributions and steady leadership, helping to make Port Canaveral one of the best ports in the world!

BE PREPARED: As part of its ongoing hurricane preparation efforts, Port Canaveral’s public safety and security department, in cooperation with its community partners, recently tested a new procedure that involved lifting Canaveral Fire Rescue's Fireboat 2 from the harbor and placing it into a secure, custom-designed cradle in the event of severe weather. The exercise is yet another example of the Port’s proactive planning and preparation to keep its maritime assets safe and secure during hurricane season.
