Ryan Reynolds put it well: people notice Canada for more than geography, they notice what it stands for. This week is proof. $120 trillion in assets sat in one room in Toronto, with Carney pitching $1 trillion in new investment in Canada. Same week he's in Strasbourg addressing the European Parliament, Macron's hosting him on Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon days before that, and Canada's already inside SAFE, the EU's €150 billion defence fund, since February. Seems like we just keep having more and more great weeks! xitter.cf/MarkJCarney/status/209…
The first-ever Canada Investment Summit kicks off today in Toronto.  Some of the largest investors in the world are here for a reason: they see our strength, they share our ambition, and they want to build big with us.

.@ABDanielleSmith, now that we’re all assured that UCP is not a separatist party and all UCP MLAs support unity, why not have a vote in the Legislature on question #10 as requested by #ForeverCanadian? As a federalist leader, you’d want to send such a powerful message of unity.
Bob Fife on Danielle Smith telling separatists in the UCP to find another home: "Why didn't she say that at the beginning? This is somebody who has fed them, nurtured them and accommodated them, and now they're coming for her."

Funny how 'stay out of our politics' only ever seems to apply southbound at the border. Also worth reminding our American friends that 'Conservative' doesn’t translate the same way up here. Disagree with them or not, traditional Canadian conservatism (mostly) is still built on fiscal policy and institutions, not a personality cult, vaccine-to-crocodile conspiracies, imaginary transoceanic swimming caravans, or blaming the housing crisis on washroom signs.

Alberta Prosperity Project disavows their separatist leaders after they lost the referendum. Up until then, they were fine. Danielle Smith disavows separatists in the UCP party and caucus after they lost the referendum. Up until then, they were fine. No honor among thieves.

Bob Fife: "Let's remember where Danielle Smith comes from. She was a radio host for a long period of time. And her audience were the very same people who she's fed off of and encouraged who wanted to separate from the country."

It appears Jeffrey Rath and Mitch Sylvestre were fired from the Alberta prosperity project last month and removed from the board of directors. The move was kept quiet to not overshadow the vote.

It's official. More votes were counted in Alberta's referendum than in any other vote in Canadian history, including all federal elections.
