In 1990, 1.7 million British people paid the 40% rate of income tax.
By 2027, almost 9 million are projected to pay higher or additional rates.
From roughly 1 in 15 income taxpayers to more than 1 in 5.
On Budget Day, it’s worth remembering that higher-rate tax has become an increasingly ordinary tax on aspiration.
Britain needs lower taxes & less government in our lives.

Two points in assessing net economic impact of Brexit:
1. it is highly uncertain given everything else going on.
2. whether a cost or benefit, the effect is certainly modest.
With those caveats, my judgement is the net economic effect of Brexit so far has been positive.

No, wait. The 32,000 is not an actual body count. It’s the result of modelling by Imperial College on the basis of several dubious assumptions.
People did die of heat this summer. They usually do when it gets v hot e.g 1976, 2003. The exact number is not clear.
But even if 32,000 was a real figure we know for sure many, many more will die of cold this winter. They always do.
