Yesterday, Arlington National Cemetery laid to rest an unknown Union soldier with full military funeral honors with escort in Section 81. Discovered during archaeological excavations at Manassas National Battlefield Park, the young soldier-estimated to have been 16 to 19 years old-was connected to the Second Battle of Manassas. The Office of Army Cemeteries coordinated his interment alongside two other unknown Union soldiers recovered from the same park and buried at Arlington in 2018. Soldiers from 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and U.S. Army's 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Caisson Detachment rendered final honors. An Army Arlington Lady accepted the flag on behalf of the unknown soldier's family.

Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue. “We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat. The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

Final Farewell to an American Hero. A solemn and heartfelt farewell took place at Bakersfield National Cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2026, as James T. Murphy, a 106-year-old WWII veteran, former prisoner of war, and Bataan Death March survivor was laid to rest. As a young soldier, Murphy survived the Bataan Death March and more than three and a half years as a POW, facing starvation, brutal treatment, and forced labor in Japan's Mitsubishi copper mines. In 2015, he accepted Mitsubishi Materials Corporation's historic apology on behalf of all American POWs subjected to forced labor during WWII. We are deeply saddened by the passing of James Murphy, a true American hero and a man of great honor. Rest in peace, James T. Murphy. 🫡

Right now I couldnt care less if @RevAdamHamilton and @RogerMarshallMD both die in a plane crash, neither one of 'em is capable of representing me. Election day can't get here quick enough, I'm sick of hearing their smear commercials every 20 minutes.

Activist: "Farmers pump their cows full of antibiotics. It's in every glass of milk." Dairy farmer: "Do you know what happens if it is?" Activist: "People drink it." Dairy farmer: "The tanker gets tested at the gate. One cow's worth of antibiotic in 20,000 litres and the whole load goes down the drain. Every farm on the run that morning gets their milk tipped, and the farm that did it pays for all of it." Activist: "So you're saying it never happens." Dairy farmer: "I'm saying a treated cow on this farm gets red tape round her leg, goes to the back of the parlour, and her milk goes in a bucket for 6 days. I treat her like she's radioactive, because financially she is." Activist: "You still use them." Dairy farmer: "On a cow that's ill. Same as you. The vet writes it up, the date goes on the wall, and the wall's checked. Use on this farm is about half what it was 10 years ago, and that's every dairy I know." Activist: "Routine use in feed, then." Dairy farmer: "Illegal for years. Growth promoters went 20 years ago. You're describing a chicken shed in a country I don't farm in." Activist: "You can't prove it's not in the milk." Dairy farmer: "I can prove it 3 times a week, because they test it 3 times a week and send me the sheet. When did you last get a sheet on your oat drink?" Activist: "That's different." Dairy farmer: "It is. Nobody tests it. Mine's the most inspected liquid in your kitchen and it's the one you're scared of."

What you are seeing here is a 10 year old American boy wearing the Medal of Honor around his neck. The medal had been awarded to his father. His father gave the order that saved his crew and sealed his own fate in 1943. His three final words became one of the most legendary phrases in US Navy history. This is the story of Howard Gilmore.. 🧵 1/5

Met French once at the Chili Bowl, got to take a look inside that big blue truck. He was one of those "mad scientist" guys, always looking at stuff differently, trying to improve it. Rest in Peace, racer.

"Before They Make Me Run" is the song Keith Richards wrote when he thought he was finished, cut in a studio session he famously didn't sleep through. Here he is playing it backstage, forty-odd years later, waiting to go on.
