Nothing like a good dose of schadenfreude with your Monday lunch.

I won't bore you with the Johan Cruyff story, but Levante are in the hood today. Interesting schtick about the 'oldest club in town', a little fingers-up to the alleged big club of the city Valencia, founded 10 years later. Interesting that they chose English. Decent ears. 7/10

Life can be difficult sometimes. My digibox enables me to watch the Bhutan Premier, should I so wish, but tonight's dilemma is genuine. PSG v Barça or Rochdale v Grimsby? They unfortunately coincide (Rochdale time is 20.45 in Spain). I may need some help here. I'm stressed.

No 201.2 of the series, but this time up in Zubieta, where Real Soc B have just lost (undeservedly) 2-4 to Almería. Kool bus though. Edgy design, with 'Sons of the Desert' on the side - even in the pissing rain. Rare shot of the author, with brolly. We'll give them a solid 8/10.

Welcome back to Deportivo, after a trip down to Div 3 and back. Decent bus anyway, gaining space with the 'Depor' abbreviation and everything tucked in nicely. Good use of local lingo with 'A Coruña', and plenty of injured players missing. For the last fact, especially, 8/10.

No 201 in the series. Today Granada (bus gone, 0-0 as I write) here to play Real Soc B. I was expecting a pic of the Alhambra, but there's a small pomegranate at the bottom of the shield - which is what 'Granada' means (duh). Good monogram but in boring red. We'll give them 6/10.

New Premier League legislation, to add to the fact that they must start next season in League Two: Article 0.5: Every time Man City's owners say they're innocent, they go down a Division further.

*Stop Press. Charge 87, the one City didn't break of the 115. It concerns the invoicing of the Etihad pie deal (2016-18). The judge ruled that while £4.00 for a shit pie was questionable, it did not technically violate Financial Fair Play rules and that Chelsea's pies were worse.

So.....now we know why Pep and Rodri decided it was time to leave. 😎 Mind you, I'd like to have seen Pep coach them in the Northern Premier. It would have been a better test of his mettle.

Was at Real Soc B v Mallorca yesterday (0-1) with the indefatigable Liam Bambridge and the Segunda Show. He then zapped off to Real Union v Mirandés, and took in Bilbao Athletic v Depor B today (Sunday). Brilliant stuff. Big shout-out for Avro FC!

I'll be at this one tonight - Europa League. Last time I saw Bournemouth it was at Grimsby in the old 4th Division. I've never quite got used to them being in the Prem. And I'd forgotten that George Best once played 5 games for them. Are all their ultras still wealthy pensioners?

Ok. I'm on a roll now. 2 steaming fresh examples. New boy Muñoz gets the correct treatment at the Beeb. But in Sam Drury's report below it, he's in Wilmslow without the diacritic on his laptop. He writes 'Munoz'. No big deal? But 'Moon-yoth' is very different from 'Moon-oth'.

Sorry to sound like grumpy from Grimsby, but why can't the BBC find a keyboard that incorporates the ç? I mean...it's not rocket science. Barcelona are not called 'Barca' - which an English speaker will pronounce 'Barka'...which is wrong. It's a 'soft' 'c' (Barsa). Ok? FFS!

Thought the 4-1 flattered Madrid a bit last night, but Mbappé's finishing was extra-terrestrial. It was cool of RM, however, to include Oyarzabal in the WCup thingy before the start. It was entirely their initiative. Just as long as he doesn't get ideas about growing his hair.

Just had a communiqué from Real Sociedad about the charges for the Europa League this season. Fair cop. The Spanish and Basque versions ended '¡Aupa Real!' but the AI translation made a bad assumption. See last line. 🤣

The other inevitable question about these chaps is - who will be the first to be handed his P45? En castellano: ¿a quien van a dar el finiquito primero? Iraola will be under the microscope, but Alonso is working for capricious owners. I hope they survive, at least for a season.

Well you never know (unless you're a Tottenham fan). I don't think they'll have a bad season, but there might be an anti-Arteta effect, in the sense that he's not as media-friendly as Pep. Some players find him hard to take to, but that was also true of Pep. We shall see.

After years of accumulating every single copy of WSC from its inception in 1986, I'm having a bit of a clear-out, keeping some - but enjoying the ride. This cover from 2011 is sadly prescient (read the bubble). Just substitute Blatter for Mr Egghead - you get the picture.

Here's a piece for 'The Dugout' on the Aficionados travel website, written this very week. Lots of never-before- revealed info on the Basque invasion of the EPL this season. All yours. Enjoy. aficionadosft.com/thebasquei…
