NPR quits Twitter after it questions the network’s editorial independence - my story: npr.org/2023/04/12/116926916…
If my shoes don’t stick to the floor and my view of the stage isn’t obscured by random beams, this replica will disappoint.
The Atlantis, a replica of the original 9:30 Club, will open behind the existing venue in May. Foo Fighters will kick off a run of 44 acts performing at the intimate venue through September. bit.ly/3ZKm6Zc
The last time I was stunned by a pilot was “Orphan Black.” The way the plot revealed itself, the economy of writing, and of course Tatiana Maslany’s performance. I was hooked.

On @MorningEdition today, @LeilaFadel had a great conversation with Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode (about a damn good new album too!). If you've got 7 minutes to spare, please give it a listen. If you've only got 3 1/2, listen to half.

Everything about this sucks (not David’s reporting, the news itself). I was spared but I’m not in the mood to feel relieved. I’m pissed for my colleagues and the talent NPR has jettisoned. Great people were shown significant disrespect this week.
Tough day at NPR: Four podcasts canceled, 10 percent of workforce laid off. We'll learn more about who is leaving the network in hours and days to come.

When I heard @tiannaesperanza's music I was captivated. Then I spoke to them and I was blown away. Trust me... you want to listen to this conversation, then go listen to their album 'Terror' npr.org/2023/03/15/116337320…
I wish we had more time on the show for this one. My ideal cut was almost twice as long!

Sounds like I need to buy more CD’s this year
Vinyl albums outsold CDs last year for the first time since 1987, according to a report released Thursday.
It marked the 16th consecutive year of growth in vinyl, with 41 million albums sold — compared to 33 million CDs. n.pr/3mxBXfJ
I love this thread. To show my age, I produced a series in 2002-2003 called The CD Wish List. What were the best LP’s that didn’t make it to CD? I loved that series.

Producer Sam Phillips shaped rock & roll, but told NPR in 1993 that he wasn't necessarily conscious of creating a genre:
"I think I was conscious of letting out the insides, emotional insides, of people."

Coincidentally or not, Trump chose to make his presidential announcement Nov. 15—the exact release date of a book by Mike Pence, who says Trump was “wrong” about the 2020 election and is considering a run himself. Here’s the @npr video interview: npr.org/2022/11/22/113846538…
