I think it's important for queer people to protect themselves in the safest way they are able. As a leftist, I'm a strong advocate for gun ownership and safety training.

While we do have firearms in the house, they stay locked up in my closet.
This is Bernie the gas powered Blicky. A Byrna. My home defense weapon of choice, and the safest way for a home full of depressed neurodivergent folks and kids to feel safe in an uncertain world.
If the blue laser and 1000 lumen light in the face doesn't deter someone, and the first round of pepper spray/teargas combo doesn't stop someone, the four steel balls that follow certainly will. If that doesn't stop someone, then we've got backups that go bang, and they certainly will.
It won't unalive anyone, but if somebody takes a couple hits they're going to wish it had for long enough to get away.

A local D&D Fighter has died after ignoring repeated warnings from fellow players that his choice of weapons and armor was mathematically inferior.
“He wanted to use a flail because he thought it was cool,” explained one party member. “We showed him the damage calculations. We sent him three build guides. He just kept talking about his PC's backstory, which was mostly about his dad’s forge or something.”
The group had repeatedly urged him to reconsider, pointing out that his refusal to optimize was making the game less enjoyable for everyone else.
“He said he was just trying to have fun,” recalled another player. “I don't think he understood how selfish that was.”
The group has since agreed to let him play whatever PC he wants, provided they approve the build first.
Kanye is the obvious choice. That flight will go by faster than any you've had. You'll arrive with your perspective shattered and your mind blown. Then you'll call the authorities because he's clearly unwell.
