The people of this archipelago tried to build something new, something *different*. The rest of the world didn't like it, so they came and ended it.
.@terribletoybox's #ReturnToMonkeyIsland is so good it feels like a magic trick
its almost as if the team behind it had literal decades to hone their craft 🏴☠️
dad got gifted a basically unused #iPod nano 3g (released in 2007)
completely unexpected, but syncing on monterey mostly "just works"
little fella holds up to 4gb, which is surprisingly difficult to fill up after having gone all in on music streaming 😬
renewed respect for #linux sysadmins after attempting (and failing) to set up a nfs share
why does id remapping only partially do what i want, and why do i apparently need a kerberos server? 😭
.@SpotifyPlatform silently rolled out an endpoint to get the current playback queue 👏 #spotify
developer.spotify.com/docume…
its unconditionally limited to 20 tracks, but there don't appear to be any context-based restrictions in place (radio stations, autoplay)
update day! #iOS16 (fingers crossed that the release build fixes the navigation bar regressions introduced in beta 6 🤞)
been using an old mac mini + some usb hard drives as a "temporary" home server for more than 4 years
just had the first drive break on me, which i honestly can't be that mad about, as its a small miracle that this whole setup hasn't failed spectacularly yet, lol
#wwdc22 wishlist:
* all: SwiftUI improvements
* watchOS: increase the size of the timer dismiss button so it can be pressed with ones nose more easily

some more #SwiftUI shenanigans. this time a quick exploration of #ScrollView's unusual clipping behavior

dynamically altering the status bar style in #SwiftUI 2 projects without causing unexpected breakage is surprisingly non-trivial. this is my best shot at a minimally invasive approach.

Quantile has been featured in the excellent @ClubMacStories Weekly newsletter 🥳
Citing @johnvoorhees: "[...] does a terrific job of providing a concise summary of your favorite workout types."
step one of "project localization" for @QuantileApp: automate hero screenshot capturing
figuring out how to programmatically set the simulator device language was tricky, but now comes the hard part of actually translating the app 😬 #i18n #SwiftUI #AppleHealth #Widgets #Fitness
this just in: i'm physically incapable of understanding how timezones work and therefor launched @QuantileApp while all of #CA is still asleep. oh well, nothing i can do about it now🤷♂️
