In this session, we took a deep dive into how educators can create the conditions for all students to find their own entry points to learning in order to better engage them with movement, physical activity and sport. We showed how placing students at the heart of their own learning can help them critically think about the choices they make and the direction they need/want to go in the units being taught in PE. In providing these conditions for agency, autonomy, voice and choice, the hope is that students will be more deeply engaged in #physed and find much more relevance in their learning. When this is done well, the end result is that students will take more authentic action to be physically active in their own ways when not in school. This should be the ultimate aim of any quality PE program regardless of country, culture or socioeconomic background. In this session, we explored what teachers have to let go of within themselves to be able to teach in this way and how activating student voice with consistency provides teachers with the feedback and data needed to plan for more meaningful learning engagements. I have great appreciation for the fact that we had teachers from more than 20 countries in this session all giving up their time on a weekend to learn.
