Plymouth State partial eclipse presentation on Saturday, October 14, 2023 - from 12:00-1:00 pm. If you are in the Plymouth, NH area, come out and learn about the partial eclipse and, if the weather cooperates, some telescope views! #PlymouthState
Plymouth State Planetarium show on Thursday, October 5, 2023 -- from 5:00-6:00 pm. If you are in the Plymouth, NH area, come out for the FIRST public show in years! #PlymouthState
Ok #iteachphysics pholks. I’m going through old equipment and found this. Lopsided glass goalposts? Anyone know what this might be used for? There’s a second smaller one as well.

Bought more happy/sad ball sets from @ArborSci so my students could do this classic experiment instead of watching me do it. I used the old 2D collision ramps made from bent rulers and scrap wood from the shop. Students predicted first, then tried it, then we talked about why.
Something new you could try in the New Year: Physics with Phones! Listen in to my interview with David Rakestraw about using phone apps to tap into the remarkable computing technology of our phones for doing introductory physics experiments.

2-meter sticks. Thought they'd be easy to buy. Can't find them. #iteachphysics #modphysics help! Where do you buy them?
This is really cool! Immensely satisfying to explore, even as "the educator."
#ITeachPhysics: New @Desmos sim: Falling through Air!

Thank you, @bonni208, for sharing your Back to School message on @tihighered. It helped calm my jitters on the drive to campus for my first day teaching @PlymouthState. AND, excited that my new colleague @actualham was quoted in the episode! "We're already in the real world."
It's really amazing coming to a place that has the @PSUOpenCoLab and a community of educators dedicated to the craft of teaching. Looking forward to getting immersed in my new home!
My new lab space is very well stocked with @pascoscientific equipment. But one very important piece of teaching technology was absent! Fortunately a quick order with whiteboardsusa.com/ has saved the day!

The Physics Alive podcast is alive again! Needed the summer for moving and unwinding. But now...let's learn about the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) with @EEtkina! physicsalive.com/isle/
Happy August 1st! I’m a Panther now! Faculty ID at Plymouth State = received. Next, it’s time to setup the new office: a space for coffee, office hours, class prep, podcasting, and more coffee.
Episode 43 of Physics Alive: Diffraction of DNA and the DNA of my Physics Class. I talk about a simple DNA diffraction experiment using the spring from a pen and the DNA, the structure, of my introductory physics class during the spring ’22 semester. physicsalive.com/dna
We're Going on a Planet Hunt! My son and I riffed on We're Going on a Bear Hunt as the intro for my latest episode of Physics Alive. But now he wants to know what a black hole is. Fun conversations with a 4-year-old! physicsalive.com/wp-content/…
Finally tried out laser diffraction through a pen spring to model how the structure of DNA was determined! First heard about this is 2018 in a resource from
@RVieyraAEF. The image is from an @pascoscientific diode laser projected through a pen spring onto a screen 8m away. 🧵
