And tonight also sees the defeat of Serbia's Aleksandar Vučić, and the Student List won!
Congratulations, Serbia!
Let's hope the US midterms make this a hat-trick.

This supercut is likely to make Trump VERY upset. The difference between Trump and Obama is on full display, and the contrast is absolutely devastating. Watch until the end...
Dupe Dan Sullivans?
British elections do this so much better. There have been attempts at two parliamentary candidates in the same seat named Jeremy Corbyn, a bearded Mr Margaret Thatcher, Roy Jenkins, Ted Heath, Greg Smith, Richard Huggett, Mr Hughes (3 candidates), and others.
Frankly, if electors can't tell the difference, then they are unqualified to vote.

So AI is not content with simply writing papers, but it is now also reviewing papers.
What's next? Will AI agents become the only readers of papers?
I suspect so, alas.
The importance of this paper cannot be overstated.
The authors compared AI reviews with 134 reports written by carefully selected, paid human experts.
The results are impressive.
Not only AI received higher ratings across all seven dimensions assessed by an AI judge.
But even three former journal editors preferred AI reviews in 90% of the cases.
The potential benefits of AI reviews for scientific advance are getting enormous: faster and higher quality feedback, less reviewing work, more time for research.
We could even imagine journals run entirely by AI editors and reviewers. This could radically disrupt a publishing system that costs researchers considerable time and money. Let me say: some disruption would be welcome.
But there are also major concerns.
What happens when a few AI systems become gatekeepers across sciences?
They might increase average review while narrowing the range of ideas that survive.
This is particularly critical at the scientific frontier, where an important contribution may challenge the assumptions that existing research takes for granted.
And even worse: let’s not forget that, near the frontier, AI systems become more likely to hallucinate.
So they might embed errors at the very core of human knowledge.
A tsunami is coming.
And we’re not ready.

Interesting and timely new dataset available, tho if you are seeking to generalize from this,
1) the selection of cases may potentially err on the side of confirmation bias and
2) "extremism" is defined as anti-democratic not anti-regime. But...we may steal some questions for the next wave of the WVS. Open access:

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin.
