Sometimes you have to look yourself in the mirror as a coach.
Is the player getting better or not?
In order to know this, you have to track progress.
If the answer is often no, something has to change.
Objective feedback isn’t just valuable for the player, it’s also valuable for the coach.

Differential balls 101:
Arm side or up misses - use bigger or heavier balls.
Glove side or down misses - use smaller or lighter balls.
A simple way to make your pitch design sessions better:
Put a dummy in the box on the side you are primarily designing the pitch for.
Example:
RHP developing a sweeper will primarily use it against RHH.
Therefore, put a RHH in the box to get used to the visual, starting point, etc.

If you can’t throw strikes, you will NOT pitch.
There is a time and place for “feel good BP” or stock bullpen plans, but if that is all you ever do, you are missing the boat on true player development.
What does the player need to improve in order to have more success on the mound?
Build a plan around that.
