Obesity among the police, military and medics should never have been tolerated but now we have Ozempic etc a line can be drawn under it. It's something you really notice in Spain that the police always look capable of chasing and battering a toerag when needed
🚨EXCLUSIVE: Chubby cops have had custom body armour made in up to size XXXXL, as well as 60inch waist trousers, as critics warn that too many of the nation’s officers are too unfit to stop criminals. Latest @TheSun research…

A disastrous decision that leans into the 'unspoiled wilderness' myth of the Welsh landscape. Much countryside has been knowingly toyed with by man for centuries, it brought much prosperity. A lot of areas have more of an industrial, functional beauty where pylons look fine

Lots of Wales looks straightforwardly terrible as well. Can we allow pylons in those bits at least?

This makes much more sense, the colour is fully redolent of the cause it's promoting, people will know it (Although that's too dark a pink)
πŸ’• Tonight, Cardiff Castle will turn pink to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer Research Wales is encouraging people across Wales to wear pink to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Find out more: orlo.uk/ALNDn

Two scroungers broke into a Cardiff community centre in August and shat in the soft play (?!) Local Liberal Democrats are more upset that this has become public with some wrong information about the date it happened. "Please do not believe rumours on social media" πŸ’€

You have to walk quite a long way through this building (past the toilets) to reach the soft play also.

There's also an immensely racist double standard that veiled women are subject to. If a fat bloke called Darren from Tonyrefail was to start insisting his girlfriend veil herself before she goes out we would address it in terms of coercive control and safeguarding.
There's an interesting look to the pro-veiling protest on the steps of the Senedd last night. I don't think you can girlboss supporting the niqab, whichever way you approach it.

It seems like another cousin marriage - you can notionally ban it but the practice will continue informally because these women are sequestered in a largely separate society which works according to its own codes. That is what needs tackling.

There are tens of thousands of women of Muslim community backgrounds missing and unaccounted for from the workforce. That is due more attention than the niqab

If you have travelled on the Elizabeth Line lately you may have heard the rolling announcements about Abbey Wood station's escalators being decommissioned They were escalators designed for indoor use but which were partly outside πŸ™ƒ so just died in heavy rain
Replying to @SteviePix
Hi Stevie Thanks for getting in touch regarding escalators at Abbey Wood station. Sorry for the inconvenience. In April 2026, the maintenance contract for the escalators at Abbey Wood changed. Following inspections by the new asset maintainer, concerns were raised about their operation and the escalators were taken out of service. A more detailed review has since identified that a number of components will need to be replaced before the escalators can safely return to service. Work is underway to assess the required repairs, costs and timescales. In the meantime, customers who require step-free access can continue to use the lifts within the station. We apologise for the ongoing disruption and appreciate your patience. Many thanks ^DD

This routine (from a roast) gets clipped up for Instagram a lot. There was also a gag in it about another comedian's miscarriage, which I now cannot find anywhere

A good starting point for getting MUP to work in Wales (given the inevitable cross-border pressure) might be to exclude drinks below 5% ABV. That's where problem drinkers aren't interested but where also MUP is depriving ordinary hardworking consumers of a bit of consumer utility
My first bit of cross border smuggling since the Welsh MUP for alcohol went to 65p. Stashed in my work locker to bring home another day. A sessionable stout, reduced to clear at Β£4 in a London Morrisons, would need to be Β£5.04 in Wales.

Maybe also wines below 11%. No street drinker is necking vinho verde

Welsh Minimum Unit Price - these 3.4% bottles of weak lager bought mainly by old ladies for family parties are available for Β£2.99 in an English Aldi, but must be sold for no less than Β£5.53 in Wales. What problem drinker is going to be interested in this?

The original MUP mainly increased the price of superstrong cider so your regular consumers didn't notice. It's now much more distortionary, and is increasing the price of weaker drinks that the tax system is supposed to be pushing problematic drinkers toward! What are we doing

Reminder that this isn't a tax either, so there's no public good from higher cost. The retailer just trousers the difference, they're obliged to by the Welsh government. A set of choices that we have made
