💚 Times they are a-changing! 🙌🏻 to @wfcouncil for reinstating tree pits today, despite #StormHenk, that have been capped for possibly a decade and planting new #StreetTrees
2024 is looking up!
Loss of the Pear tree will be loss of visiting Greater Spotted woodpeckers & the (saproxylic) invertebrates they spend a lot of time feeding on in the tree when not snacking on the garden birdfeeders (Photo ♂ GS W 21/07/23)
(The squab 11/06/2020. Have grown a native hedge & Holly my side so couldn’t get photo of destruction of Ivy in action but heard works. The Council replied in their opinion the ivy would have taken months & months to wither back therefore didn’t take place in birdnesting season.)
Replying to @RussellB1ggs @WoodlandTrust
Hi is there anyway to establish age of this ivy (destroyed Mar 2020)? Am now trying to save the Pear tree on council allotment fence line, no public path, 1 plotholder-my complaint re wildlife crime of exposing a Wood Pigeon squab to extreme sun/heat & crow attack was dismissed
