Addiction doesn't discriminate by status or income. While families mask the reality out of fear of what people will say, lives are being lost every single day.
Why are we still afraid to talk about it?

"If you drink do not drive. If you drive do not drink."
Very Simple, Very Straightforward
The Directorate ofTraffic and Road Safety in collaboration with Kampala Metropolitan Police conducted a targeted drink-driving operation last night resulting in the apprehension of 92 suspects across five operational areas with in KMP.
-15 suspects-Kira Road
-16 suspects-Kabalagala
-20 suspects-Jinja Road
-18 suspects-Kawempe
-23 suspects-Katwe
These operations are conducted over the weekends, particularly on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays when increased social activity often involves alcohol consumption.
The 92 suspects apprehended in a single night within the five divisions in KMP alone highlight the scale of the drink-driving challenge. This reinforces the concern reflected in road crash statistics which show that weekends account for more road crash fatalities than other days of the week.
The Directorate warns motorists against driving under the influence of alcohol.
If you drink do not drive. If you drive do not drink.
Let us all take responsibility for safer roads and saving lives

The Music, dance and drama show conducted on 23/10/2026 at Kireka farmers market, gave Youth Advisory Board (YAB) members an engaging platform to use music, dance and drama to communicate messages through relatable, everyday situations. By developing and performing these stories, members practised teamwork, creativity, leadership and public speaking while taking an active role in community sensitisation.
Reaching over 116 young people at Kireka Farmers Market, the show encouraged reflection on substance use prevention, positive parenting, informed decision-making and community responsibility. This peer-led approach can make messages easier to understand and relate to, positioning YAB members as positive role models and encouraging young people to make safer choices.

Children are sacred — protection must be practical, not just spoken.
When a child knows where to call, silence breaks.
A 24/7 helpline like Sauti 116 gives children access to care, support and emergency response when they need it most.
Protection is not a poster, it is a pathway.
This is how we move from awareness to protection.
Important work by @PolicyUganda @archerfrom1997 @sauti116
Individually Weaker, Collectively Stronger.
From time immemorial, children are sacred and must be protected from any kind of harm and violence wherever they are.
During our sensitisation visit to St. Mary's Primary School Kishaye in Isingiro District, our Programs Officer @archerfrom1997 made known the "Sauti 116" (@sauti116 ) helpline - Uganda's verified National Child Helpline @Mglsd_UG to the young learners. This helpline provides 24/7 confidential support, guidance, and emergency intervention for all citizens including children.
Sauti 116 links children at risk, in need of care and support & protection to various services through case management reporting pathways, all aimed for a violence-free life.

A lecture on crime prevention, case management, relapse prevention, and refusal skills at Muteesa I Royal University, Main Campus, Masaka, brought together students of social work, social sciences, and other related fields.
The session explored supporting vulnerable individuals, building resilience, resisting negative peer pressure, and connecting people to appropriate services. Discussions also covered dissertation writing and professional conduct during internships and in the workplace, emphasising ethical behaviour, confidentiality, respectful communication, and professional boundaries.
The session aimed to strengthen students’ academic and practical skills, preparing them to practise responsibly and respond effectively to individual and community needs.

Relapse doesn't mean the program didn't work, it means there is something being done wrongly.
#ICYMI, we commemorated our 2026 #IndependenceDay at Kalerwe with our member organisation @kydaUG , for our World Alcohol-Free Day Commemorations Games Tournament.
To begin off the day, our Secretariat shared knowledge and tips with our congregation of Kawempe community on the benefits of living free and liberated from alcohol.
It was thereafter, that a soccer match ensued between out-of-school boys from Kyebando Nsooba village and Peers Mentors from the villages where our prevention of violence against children program works(Kazo, LugobaII, Tebuyoleka, kyebando, Kakungulu and Mbogo.
