Bubble fears sparked a wave of “the bubble popped” takes. What’s actually appears to be popping is hedge fund leverage. AI keeps advancing at a pace that makes the future genuinely uncertain.
@elonmusk has long said abundance is coming. That abundance hurts the terminal value of nearly every company by collapsing scarcity and pricing power. Markets are finally starting to adjust to that. Pomp and I talk about it all this week as well as BTC continuing to disconnect from tech.
This week @jvisserlabs explains the death of hedge funds and why so many of them are blowing up.
We cover the lessons from LTCM, why CPI doesn't matter anymore, whether Anthropic growth is slowing, why bitcoin is holding strong, how tokenization could reshape Wall Street, and Elon's flying car.

"Do you know what it's like to wake up one day and have a trillion dollar company compete with you?"
Here's my new episode with @APompliano, who I worked with a decade ago at Facebook. Since then, he's had an incredible career as an investor, creator with 3M+ followers, author, and now founder of Silvia, an AI CFO for independent investors.
Pomp and I had a great chat about:
→ How he built his extraordinary career
→ How AI startups can build durable moats and compete with the top AI labs
→ How he hires AI-native talent
Some quotes from Pomp:
"I went to these big companies to hire people with great resumes. Every one of those people were amazing, but it was like a car wreck."
"With financial questions, people are scared of being judged or don't want to come off as dumb. With AI, you can ask anything."
"My version of an extraordinary life? Work hard, solve interesting problems, and set an example for my 4 kids."

Hunter Biden on The Trump Administration....
"My biggest critique of the Trump administration is simply the personal involvement of a sitting president of the United States in the industry to profit for himself and his family. And I don't see in any period of time in which that is right."

My friend and co-author @ChristopherZook just sat down with @APompliano for a great conversation about what we uncovered in The Holy Grail of Investing.
For decades, many of the most powerful investment opportunities have been largely reserved for the biggest institutions.
Christopher and I wrote this book to help change that, pulling back the curtain on private equity, sports investing, and more.
🙏 Take a listen.
I sat down with @ChristopherZook to break down how to build a diversified portfolio in a rapidly changing world.
He explained why CAZ invests in the picks and shovels of crypto, the rise of neoprimes in space and defense, the scarcity behind bitcoin, sports teams, and GP stakes, and why AI's impact on jobs keeps him up at night.

$GOOG Logan Kilpatrick reveals Google is seeing early signs of recursive self-improvement, and it's showing up in their three-to-four-week release cadence, with Gemini 4 expected to get them back into contention
"I think we are laser focused right now at the frontier. We're seeing all these early signs of recursive self-improvement. I think the other labs are seeing this as well, and so it's underscoring the value of being at the frontier."
"Hopefully we'll see that with Gemini 4, but an immense amount of progress. I think you've seen this with the Gemini 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, lined up in literally three-to-four-week increments, sometimes less, sometimes a little bit more."
"We're seeing very reasonable progress, and again, this is the early signs of this recursive self-improvement loop."
"So hopefully we'll see that translate over in the same way to Gemini 4, and it'll be our largest, most ambitious pre-training run so far. So I think it'll get us back in contention."
Tibo Sottiaux reveals he left Google for OpenAI after learning only about 20 people were running ChatGPT
"I met a couple people from OpenAI and then I was like, wait what, you only have like 20 people working on ChatGPT?"
"That is an insanely small number. That must be extremely empowering. How does that work? How do you manage to maintain a product with that level of scale, and with that level of autonomy, with only 20 engineers?"
"And then as I kind of dug and dug and dug, it was just an amazing group of people, amazing mission, super talented, super driven, and it drew me in."
"And then I joined pre-reasoning efforts immediately, like typical OpenAI fashion. I joined and it was like, oh yeah, there's this thing going on, we're going to launch reasoning models, some new paradigm."
"And then start sprinting on that, and a month later the company launched o1 preview, and that was exhilarating to be part of."
