🇮🇪 On this day, (November 1st, in 1920), 18-year old Kevin Barry was executed in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin.
Just 12 days beforehand, Kevin had stood before a British military court, facing the gallows for fighting for Irish freedom.
Kevin refused to recognise the Court's authority or to betray his comrades.
His pending death sentence attracted international attention, and attempts were made by both the U.S. and also Vatican officials to secure a reprieve.
However, just 12 days later, the British hanged Kevin in Mountjoy Prison.
"It is nothing to give one's life for Ireland. I'm not the first, and maybe I won't be the last. What is my life compared with this cause ?".

It's a strange political position to have no votes of your own, yet be so concerned about how many everyone else has.

🚨This is partition playing out
🚨In a united Ireland the government will attend economic summits
🚨The nature of partition means people in the north are let down time and time again
🚨This isn’t just about bigotry and arrogance, it’s actually facilitated because of partition

Burrows is on a police sick pension and recieves a public sector salary as an MLA.
He is the leader of the UUP and has not a single vote to his name.
But what makes makes HIM uncomfortable is that we live in a democracy where the largest party in Ireland gets so many votes.

The days of treating nationalists as second class citizens are over
The days of supremacy and domination are over
The people will decide which party they vote for & who the First Minister is
They will not be dictated to by anyone

Jon Burrows says: “I find the entire fact that Sinn Féin gets so many votes deeply uncomfortable.”
Just as Mrs Thatcher once said: “Sinn Féin winning seats would worry me.”
Unfortunately for them it’s called democracy.
Come next election - give Jon a headache & vote Sinn Féin!

Our wee colony has:
- 2.5k+ PUL marches yearly
- 12.5k Active Loyalists with access to
DUP/Ulster Resistance guns
- Zero calls for these to go
- A PSNI still in transition
- Bonfire and Racist violence
One peaceful protest by Nationalism and it’s now “The PIRA” #Nolanlive

Our society would rapidly become destabilised if nationalists imitated the conduct of Loyal Orders & unionist politicians.
That would be the outcome if republicans sought to parade in loyalist areas & pursued political & criminal consequences for unionist leaders opposing it.

The comments by DUP leader Gavin Robinson today were arrogant and supremacist.
The DUP is consumed with their own internal leadership troubles and divisions. They are in turmoil.
The days of domination and supremacy are over.
The days of treating people like second class citizens are over.
There will be no going back.
Not now, and not ever.
I, as First Minister, will be at the Assembly on Monday morning, along with Sinn Féin’s Ministers, to continue our work.
We will keep showing up every day for people.
Jealous? @OrangeOrder

Unbelievably, not happy with unleashing months of genuine fear and anxiety throughout Northern Ireland by reopening one of the most painful and shocking parading disputes by letting an unelected nobody lead political unionism by the nose, the DUP are now blocking attendance at a conference with our Prime Minister that was an opportunity to fight for fair funding for Northern Ireland. Honestly, are they wanting to continually harm Northern Ireland? That they set themselves up as the guardians of NI is an absolute joke. The DUP are the biggest threat to the existence of Northern Ireland. Absolute fools.
Who the fuck does ELP think she is.
Really looking forward to enjoying a cheap gherkin at the weekend.

💚 What a brilliant few weeks of the GAA, with football, hurling and camogie finals showcasing the talent, passion and pride that make Gaelic games so special.
A huge go raibh maith agaibh to everyone who makes it happen - those who take to the field, coach, officiate, volunteer behind the scenes, and turn up week after week to support their club.
Comhghairdeas to all the new county champions, and ádh mór as you progress to the next stage of your campaigns.
To those who came close, keep the heads up. Your hard work and resilience will see you back again.
The GAA is thriving across Ulster, and I’ll continue to do all I can to support its growth and development.
