🚨PRECIOUS LIFE CONDEMNS STORMONT VOTE ENDORSING CONTROVERSIAL RSE RECOMMENDATIONS
Parents must not be sidelined in decisions about their children's moral and sexual education.
Precious Life has expressed deep concern following today's vote in the Northern Ireland Assembly, in which MLAs voted 46 to 28 to endorse the Education Committee's recommendations on Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE).
The vote gives political backing to recommendations that could have far-reaching consequences for the content and delivery of RSE in schools across Northern Ireland.
While today's motion does not itself change the law or remove existing parental withdrawal rights, it sends a worrying message about the direction of future education policy.
Bernadette Smyth, Director of Precious Life, said:
"Parents have the primary responsibility for the upbringing, moral development and education of their children. The state must not undermine that responsibility or treat parents as obstacles to its educational agenda.
"We are particularly concerned about proposals to standardise and strengthen RSE across schools without sufficient guarantees that parents' rights, religious beliefs and freedom of conscience will be respected.
"Children deserve education that protects their innocence, promotes healthy relationships and safeguards them from abuse and exploitation. But safeguarding must never become a justification for excluding parents from decisions about what their children are taught.
"Parents have every right to know what is being taught to their children and to have their beliefs, values and convictions respected.
"Today's vote is a political endorsement of recommendations, not the end of this process. We will be watching closely to see what proposals the Education Minister brings forward and whether the rights of parents and the ethos of our schools will be protected.
"Churches and Christian communities⁵ must also recognise the seriousness of this moment. We cannot simply react to decisions made by politicians. We must actively support parents, strengthen Christian education and explore independent Christian schools and homeschooling networks.
"Parents must not be left feeling that they have no choice but to surrender their children's education to the state.
"We call on all MLAs, the Education Minister and school authorities to put parents' rights, the protection of children and freedom of conscience at the heart of any future RSE policy.
The responsibility for educating our children belongs first and foremost to parents. That right must be defended."

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: BELFAST CITY HALL VOTE
Belfast City Council voted last night to proceed with plans to illuminate Belfast City Hall in connection with abortion at Easter 2027.
Precious Life is deeply concerned by this decision, particularly given the significance of Easter, the most sacred time in the Christian calendar, when Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
We will now be consulting with our legal team to consider the implications of this decision and explore what steps can be taken.
We will release a further statement and provide more information once we have had the opportunity to speak with our legal team.
Precious Life remains committed to standing up for the dignity of every human life and defending the values of our community.

🚨HANDS OFF OUR CHILDREN! PARENTS' RIGHTS MUST BE PROTECTED IN RSE EDUCATION
Precious Life is deeply concerned about the implications of the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) motion being debated at Stormont today.
The Education Committee's recommendations include gradually phasing out parents' right to withdraw their children from Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE). This raises serious questions about parental rights, family values, and parents' role as their children's primary educators.
Parents have a fundamental right to know what their children are being taught about sexuality, contraception, abortion and relationships. They must not be excluded from decisions about their children's moral and educational development.
Parents, not the State, must have the primary responsibility for their children's upbringing and education.
Precious Life calls on MLAs to listen to parents, respect their rights and ensure that families are not sidelined in decisions that profoundly affect their children.

There is something profoundly disturbing about listening to international health officials discuss the destruction of unborn human lives.
World 'Health' Organisation has found a better way to deliver deadly abortion pills. And we’re supposed to applaud.

🚨PRECIOUS LIFE WARNS AGAINST PROPOSED WEAKENING OF PRO-LIFE PROTECTIONS IN POLAND
Precious Life has expressed grave concern following votes in Poland’s lower house of Parliament on October 20, advancing two bills that would weaken existing legal protections for unborn children. The Senate has received the proposals, and they have not yet become law.
Bernadette Smyth, spokesperson for Precious Life, said:
“We are deeply concerned by these developments in Poland. Every unborn child has inherent dignity and worth, regardless of their stage of development, disability or circumstances of conception.
“A child’s worth must never be measured by their health or disability. No child should be denied their right to life because they are vulnerable, facing medical challenges or considered unwanted.
“Women facing difficult pregnancies deserve compassion, practical assistance and genuine alternatives to abortion. The answer is to support both mother and child, not to weaken protections for the most vulnerable.
“We urge Polish senators to reject these proposals and uphold the dignity and value of every human life.
“Precious Life stands in solidarity with pro-life campaigners in Poland. The unborn child cannot speak for themselves, but we must never allow their silence to become a reason to deny them protection.
“A society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable members. We must stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the right to life of every unborn child.”
