Randy Quaid snagged a role as a mentally ill, alcoholic nutball in Independence Day 30 years ago, and he’s been playing that role ever since. No one ever told him the movie was over.
100% rigged. This time they are caught.

Not true. Hegseth gets his clothes from a company called Book a Tailor, which he confirmed in a Fox News segment. I suspect he got his clothes for free in exchange for this mention on Fox News. The company owner confirmed in an interview that their suits are made in Thailand. In the time he since promoted this company, three US suit factories have faced closure. Instead of promoting US-made clothing, Hegseth promoted cheap imports that undercut US manufacturers. You only think they're made in the US because the clothes are plastered with US flags. This is because you are more easily impressed by spectacle than substance, which is why this administration is so exciting for you.

Yep. Nice to have a patriotic American instead of a pussy ass globalist

I can’t shake the feeling that selling your high-beta tech stocks already down 40-70%, to buy low/no growth consumer names at 30-100x earnings…might not be so smart, either.

One thing Texas and Florida taught us in 2026. Scouring voter rolls and requiring voter ID created a Blue Wave. Stephan Millers wife refused to vote as she was required to show an ID Let’s require passports for all Americans in 2028…

I remember reading just a month or so ago about an Anthropic employee who had… if I remember correctly… given away MORE THAN 100% OF HER SALARY (of probably $500k-$1m), because she was already counting the untold millions she’d be getting in the IPO. Unhatched chickens. 😬 It’ll be funny if this results in a selloff in SF housing. A house recently sold for $7 MILLION OVER ASKING, for $15 million vs $8m asking price. Damn. Is the party really over?
It's done. The lead AI researcher of our lab just confirmed Anthropic IPO either cancelled or delayed. Not sure what to believe. He's the smartest person I've ever met. Stay safe out there. It's going to get a lot worse.

It's just not probable. Texas was stolen!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The post's calculation assumes 2.9 million voters all chose one candidate. In the 2026 Texas general election, about 9.9 million ballots were cast, with Democrats winning the Senate race 55.1% to 43.0% and Governor 52.8% to 45.7%. Both Republican candidates conceded. txelectionresults.com/2026-general-e… viewfromthegallery.com/breakdown/texa…

The Republican Party kicked all the proud conservatives out, leaving only the silent cowards and the ladder-climbing spineless sycophants. The Republican Party stands for nothing. Its platform is simply “Trump good, all else bad.” What an embarrassment. I wish Lindsey Graham had lived to see this epic comeuppance.
Republicans will spend time and treasure, likely years and millions of dollars, for consultants and experts and pundits to find out what went wrong and how this happened. Save your money and don’t waste your time. The answer came 10 years ago by a Senator from South Carolina who didn’t live to see his prophetic words come to pass. “If we nominate Donald Trump we will get destroyed…and we will deserve it.” Republicans blew up their party, their values, their dignity and decency for a man who wasn’t even a Republican. Unilateral tariffs on our allies by executive orders isn’t conservative. Siding with Vladimir Putin’s murderous war in Ukraine isn’t conservative. Accepting a bribe from a foreign country in the form of an airplane that costs hundreds of millions of dollars isn’t conservative. Turning untrained thugs in masks loose in our communities to murder American citizens in cold blood isn’t conservative. Threatening to invade and conquer a sovereign country, an ally, isn’t conservative. Pardoning people who assaulted law enforcement officers isn’t conservative. The list is too long and too exhausting to contemplate. Republican law makers lit themselves on fire for a thrice married, sociopathic, mentally unstable reality tv personality who bragged about acing a test to check for dementia and spoke about the asses of male candidates for the US Senate. There was a time when I believed we should welcome any of them who finally spoke up back into polite society. But that ship has sailed. These people should live in shame for the rest of their days, shunned and repudiated in history books, never to hold a position that requires the public trust ever again.

Clinton, Bush, and Obama all acknowledged the voters rejecting them in midterms. Trump, instead, held a ballroom press conference and is now on social media blaming the voters.

I'd love to speak to the MAGA political consultant that put together the focus group that said Thom Tillis and John Cornyn needed to be jettisoned from the GOP or Lindsey Graham's sister was ready to run for the senate.

Oh so you mean it wasn’t the immigrants, Black people, and Indian Americans who did this?
White voters comprised 73% of the electorate in 2026, compared to 72% in Trump’s first midterm in 2018. But the share of white voters without a college degree decreased. In 2018, they outnumbered white college graduates by a 10-point margin—41% to 31%—but that edge shrunk to 3 points in 2026. Non-college white voters favored Republicans by 24 points in 2018 and 21 points in 2026. White college graduates backed Democrats by 8 points in 2018 and 19 points in 2024. thedispatch.com/article/midt…

"If the Republican Party doesn’t have Texas as an anchor, then we are not going to be viable nationally going forward,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told reporters Wednesday morning. DeSantis gets it. Change or die. How about not being the Know Nothing Party? The Know Nothing Party was the antagonist of the GOP. It was targeting the same voters yes, but the GOP ascended on greater ideas, namely the radical Republican idea of ending slavery and the 14th Amendment. By way of contrast, the No Knowings were nativist and fervently anti-immigration. That was pretty much the entirety of what they brought. They were extremely protectionist of businesses. There's also a sort of Christian nationalism aspect to it in that they wanted mandatory Bible reading. The Know Nothings of today are Catholic in many cases (Nick Fuentes), so it is a different body in ways. The GOP needs to return to its roots: (1) Opposition to national government interference unless strictly necessary. Deference to state and local administration. (DeToqueville caused this the root of conservativism). (2) Strict fiscal responsibility. No more fuzzy math. No more Democrat magical thinking. We want actual cuts. (3) No more picking winners and losers. No gigantic tariff regimes. No more gigantic direct cash injections to boost the economy. No buying of particular companies because this is held in trust. No, you will be fiscally responsible. You will not gamble with The People's money period. (4) No more corruption. Period. This isn't even a Know Nothing thing. This is common sense. Putin-like levels of open corruption WILL NOT be tolerated. (5) No more magical cash giveaways, Trump bucks, $5,000 for supporting GOP. Stop trying to bribe us with our own tax dollars. (6) Enforcement of the law in an evenhanded and conservative way. Agencies apply defensible applications of the statute as written. (7) The GOP is not without nationalism. The difference is Know Nothing nationalism is rooted in blood and soil. Blood and soil is a house made of sand compared to a nationalism rooted in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. Why? Because we need to have values. We need to know who we are and what we stand for. Blood and soil gives nothing but an abyss that potentially leads to genocide. These things give us a Republic. Tldr, The Know Nothings should have stopped being a thing hundreds of years ago.

The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028. She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.” Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas. Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview. Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post. Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics. youtu.be/D-T6H3b8ZeE?is=mEWu…
