To end the war, Putin should meet not with Trump, but with Gaddafi, bin Laden, and Saddam Hussein.

The fact that there are people more bothered by russia not being allowed to compete than russia killing innocent Ukrainian civilians is genuinely insane.

This didn’t sound any better in the original Russian.
President Trump today advanced an important discussion with several European leaders about the need for a broader European security architecture that can help establish the conditions for lasting peace.
Building on his leadership and the substantive work undertaken this week in Brussels with Ukraine, NATO, and our European partners, @SEPeaceMissions and I wanted to share some of the objectives guiding our ongoing discussions.
For more than 30 years, Europe and Russia have struggled to establish a sustainable security framework. Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace.
Our objective is to develop practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment.
We are exploring five principal goals: permanent security consultations, reliable crisis communications, greater military transparency, reciprocal measures to reduce escalation risks, and an enduring framework for long-term European security and stability.
Any arrangements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent decision-making of every nation. Each country will retain authority over its own security and alliances, and no country would have a veto over another’s sovereign choices. NATO will remain central to European collective defense, and this initiative would build upon existing institutions and commitments.
We will continue consultations through the Shell Bay format with Ukraine, NATO, the EU, and our European partners, expanding engagement to ensure that all relevant perspectives and ideas are considered. We will also engage Russia as part of the peace negotiations.
Next week in Abu Dhabi, the United States will convene the first trilateral peace discussions with Ukraine and Russia since February. All parties remain intensely engaged in preparing for substantive and productive negotiations. We will consult closely with our European partners on the sidelines and, if progress is made, aim to move toward a broader multilateral format with their direct participation.
These ideas continue to evolve, and we welcome thoughtful input. Creating the right structure will be critical to ending this war and transitioning from conflict toward conditions that make possible a durable peace.
This is difficult, detailed work. There are no easy solutions. But the opportunity to help end this devastating war and build a foundation for a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Europe for generations to come makes it a challenge well worth undertaking.
We will see how these discussions develop and continue working intensively with all parties toward President Trump’s objective of a comprehensive and lasting peace.

So MAGA thinks Democrats cheated in Texas, a state run by Republicans, with a Republican governor, Republican legislature, Republican attorney general, and Republican secretary of state? Holy shit, these people are allergic to accountability.

Finland is urgently preparing tighter entry rules for Russians. PM Orpo says it would be simpler not to let them in at all.

If US geopolitical security, self-interest, and strategy matter, Ukraine matters. If values like the rule of law and human life and freedom matter, Ukraine matters most of all. Read Jay:
For four years, Republican leaders gave Zelenskyy the cold shoulder. With Democrats about to take over, @jaynordlinger argues that Congress owes Ukraine an unmistakable moral stand, and a proper salute to the heroes who’ve earned it. thenextmove.org/p/the-new-co…

People keep writing that Trump will attempt to compromise Western security for Russia’s benefit, as though Europe were some obedient Labrador waiting for its American owner to give it commands.
There is one rather enormous problem with that fantasy: Europe is sovereign, and Trump does not get to decide its future.
He can meet Putin, make grand promises, and draw imaginary lines across European maps until he runs out of crayons. None of it means a thing without Europe’s consent.
Europe is not Trump’s property, and its security is not something he can hand over to Moscow.
Trump can promise Putin whatever he likes. Europe has absolutely no obligation to deliver it.

Congress should pass military aid for Ukraine and tough sanctions against Russia. Why? Because it is strategically and morally right. If the President vetoes, then it is on him in the history books. Congress needs to stand on the right side of history.

Yeah, Elon, sure. Ukraine is to blame for all your troubles and regrets because it’s fighting with honor and courage for its freedom and survival against an imperialist aggressor — not because you keep doing outrageous horseshit, breaking agreements, lying, consuming tons of online brainrot and stupid totalitarian propaganda.

He claimed starshield wasn’t shut down. Then he claimed it was shutdown but not by his orders. Then he claimed he did shut it down. 100s of Ukrainians died. His action helped an enemy of the United States. As one of Elon’s biggest vendor we have a right to know if we can trust him.
