Trialling a βreading journalβ instead of the standard reading record to make it more enjoyable & independent for my class. Have a list of activities & ask them to complete at least one for each book they read, and just to keep track of when they read then the rest is up to them!

Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

You must be humble enough to accept that there are always going to be learning points, whether youβre a classroom teacher or a senior leader, one assistant head told Tes when reflecting on learnings from this academic year

I put a riddle on the board every morning as part of my morning tasks in the summer term.
Yesterdayβs: what has teeth but cannot bite?
A pupil (dead seriously): *puts hand up* like, a dead human?
I was honestly wetting myself
Any fellow English leads willing to share how they structure writing across the school?? Looking at our curriculum and how best to lay it out and would love to see what others are doing that works well π especially in KS1 as Iβm less familiar with how it works!
Seen the Yellowface hype everywhere so requested it from the library. Iβm 10th in the queue π¬ can I wait that long or should I just buy it?! (I also hate having hardbacks on my bookshelf π«)
Going to Brighton for a hen do next weekend and just discovered no parking where we are staying. Anyone know of anywhere to park in Brighton that wonβt cost me Β£100 for the whole weekend π₯΄ staying fairly central but Iβm happy to walk a bit to avoid paying!
3rd time reading Kick to a class and today one child pipes up, βAre all the chapters named after Elvis songs?β
Please tell me this is true @MitchAuthor?!
