🚨ASSAM: FIR filed against two renowned Assamese streamers for allegedly insulting Upper Assamese dialect; 👉🏻 On October 25, the Assamese Youth Forum (AYM), aka Asomiya Yuva Mancha lodged a complaint at Amguri Police Station in the Sivasagar district against two renowned Assamese streamers Dhiman Rai Chowdhury and Pingal Pratyush Singh over alleged insulting remarks targeting residents of Upper Assam. 👉🏻 In the complaint, the organisation alleged that the two streamers had deliberately insulted people of Upper Assam and attempted to create divisions between communities in Upper & Lower Assam. 👉🏻 It also raised allegations against Pingal Singh, claiming that he had collected money in the name of flood relief but had not distributed it, while allegedly travelling abroad. 👉🏻 The controversy intensified after Dhiman posted a video on his Instagram story responding to the backlash over his remarks. 👉🏻 Defending his comments as a joke about different regional dialects, he said, “It was just that—everyone has different original dialects, and I made a joke based on that.” 👉🏻 He also claimed that people had taken offence and that he was receiving threats through direct messages. 👉🏻 However, refusing to apologise, Dhiman stated, “And I did not want any of this, which is why I am so not sorry.” 👉🏻 He further dismissed the criticism, saying, “Because that was a joke! Don’t make a joke out of a joke!” 👉🏻 The Assamese Youth Forum condemned the alleged remarks, stating that it would not tolerate attempts to create divisions among the people of Assam. 👉🏻 The organisation urged the police to take the matter seriously and initiate appropriate action to prevent disturbances to the state’s unity and social harmony.
