Yes, but you still have a 33% higher maternal mortality rate in black women vs white women compared to the national average coupled with a way above average mortality rate... So that was my commentary on the headline, here is my revised commentary applying it to the article: That is pretty crazy... First, to falsely claim that correcting for race reduces the severity of maternal mortality in Louisiana is misleading. Second, it implies that the maternal population as a whole doesn't matter to him. Third, what is going on in Louisiana that's causing such a significant healthcare disparity for Black mothers compared to White ones, with a rate 33% above the national average? I would suggest Bill Cassidy should have worked to reduce the maternal mortality rates, particularly addressing the increased disparity among black women, before pushing anti-abortion legislation forcing more women to put their lives at risk.
