One of the most unsettling movies ever made.
Evening viewing recommendation? On the Criterion Channel, watch THE VANISHING in our Highway Horror collection! An unorthodox love story and a truly unsettling thriller, Dutch filmmaker George Sluizer’s chilling film unfolds with meticulous intensity, leading to an unforgettable finale that has unnerved audiences around the world.

US Dept of Ed officially embraces right-wing genderbent Harry Potter romance fanfic. Here's that aristocratic, traditional high culture you ordered.

Good time to enjoy seasonal comedy "Love at First Bite."
Susan Saint James, who costarred with Rock Hudson in the 1970s TV crime series "McMillan & Wife" and later costarred with Jane Curtin in the sitcom "Kate & Allie" in the 1980s, has died. She was 80. cnn.it/4BvpzPg

That's right kids. No more messing around. It's time to put the phones away and start giving learning your full attention for a change. Now hurry up, class is about to start, everyone take our your school-issued YouTube machines.
Starting next school year, a bell-to-bell cell phone ban will take effect in every single Pennsylvania classroom. We’re getting back to the basics and keeping our classrooms focused on learning.

Biggest sidewalk score I've had in NYC was a signed Noel Coward book. Also picked up an incredible jazz CD collection along with complete organs works of Bach on vinyl.
Replying to @blsandford
Quite possible the TV was free too. I got a Yamaha turntable from the early '80s from a recycling bag outside a cleared apartment a few weeks back (along with dozens of books from the guy who turned out to be a history professor and devout Episcopalian).

Living in a big East Coast city and watching these developments really feels like an anthropological exploration.

Halloween is different here in various ways, but generally various aspects of everyday life (esp. childhood things like school dropoff/pickup) have more continuity than they do in some other places.

Ironically where I first encountered them as a kid (not an altogether uncommon experience). An uncharacteristic and yet perfect entry point.
Exemplifying the myth of the endlessly replenishable brute-force genius of the Beatles while subtly signaling that the well was running dry, 'Abbey Road' is the most radically revealing of their LPs. A shape-shifting series of half-formed ideas, saying goodbye. Carry That Weight.

Really worthwhile film - longest stop-motion animated movie to date. I’m a @TheDecemberists fan so enjoyed Portland of it all and song at the end.

Make this movie more than a cult classic.
If you like animation, go watch Wildwood. If you like Lord of the Rings, go watch Wildwood. If you like Chronicles of Narnia, go watch Wildwood. If you like fairytales, go watch Wildwood. If you like movies, go watch Wildwood. If you hate AI, GO WATCH WILDWOOD!!!!

Yes deserves to be a success not just one of those years-later “Why wasn’t this a big deal?” movies.

THIS is what the increasingly woke Catholic Church puts in front of the faithful right before the midterms. I left out the threatening language which the Democrats need to condemn.

I limited replies on this because it drew a bunch of replies who didn’t catch this was a bit. I know the 3-year lectionary is not a response to U.S. politics. I thought the last line was the tell.
