They don't & we cannot. There's just no return on two storeys of res over retail that would give anyone appetite to do it. You'd also need the City to take land & subdivide it so small lots are created out of large parking lots. We simply cannot recreate the old urban patterns.

Crazy. Did the TPA also put out a statement about Brad that I may have missed?

Where did he practise planning? He was never employed in the private sector and didn’t work for City of Toronto Community Planning, he was a gopher in @jen_keesmaat’s office. And she’s endorsing Olivia…

It’s not gonna happen:
My moneys on “never”. The things that are required to make a nice little ‘city centre’ don’t make financial sense anymore, hence we get malls, towers, and tract suburbs. The most you might be able to hope for is some ersatz Potemkin village in the Square One parking lot.

Shooting the shit at the park with other dudes is almost painfully normal. But aside from that it’s wild that Brad’s ilk find it cool to publicly express this anachronistic, early 2000s homophobia on his behalf. Now there’s a group who nobody should be talking to at the park…

I’ve lived, been educated, and worked in Toronto since 1998. Doug closed SIS starting last year and ending with the final closures in June of this year. *Genuinely* curious where you get your news?

Toronto is actually quite good in this regard: neighbours have almost no say in the rezoning process. What you see in Stephen’s image is purely the result of policy, unfortunately.

Used to be, yep. Very happily sober now. Fortunately things never got bad enough for me to need outside assistance, but I want to ensure that support network is there for those who do.

You do know who LiUNA endorsed, right?
