In 2023, we launched the #DataCleaningChallenge, which brought together over 1,000 participants.
What followed was bigger than a data cleaning project. People landed jobs, found opportunities, built connections, and gained practical experience through a public project.
Now, we’re back! This time, we’re building something bigger: DaAI Community, a community for Data and AI professionals at every stage of their journey.

Networking as a data analyst goes beyond connecting with people who do the same thing as you.
You need to network in three directions:
1. Upward: Connect with people ahead of you. Learn from their experiences, seek mentorship, and understand what it takes to get to the next level.
2. Sideways: Build relationships with your peers. These are the people you can learn with, share opportunities with, collaborate on projects with, and grow alongside.
3. Downward: Connect with people who are earlier in their data journey. Share what you know, offer guidance, and help someone else figure things out.
Your network shouldn’t just be a list of people you know. It should be a community where learning, opportunities, and support flow in different directions.
And remember, networking isn’t just about what you can get. It’s also about what you can contribute.

A model that works in testing proves almost nothing.
In production, what happens when it gives the wrong answer? Can you catch it? Does the workflow know what to do next, or does everything stop?
Most of the work is making sure it still works when things go wrong.

You can finish a course in Data or AI and still struggle to build something real.
Most times not because you lack the knowledge, learning and building are two different things.
You need:
- Constant practice
- Collaboration
- Real problems to solve
Just start!
I’m yet again reminded with the traction we’ve seen with the #lagoslife sim and the other games that waiting until you’re ready can only lead to three outcomes:
you never start because you’re always waiting for the right time
you start much later than you should have or
you eventually realize you were more ready than you thought.
Most of the time, you don’t become ready and then start. You start, figure things out as you go, make mistakes, learn, adjust, and become better along the way.

solving my own need here.
intermittent fasting app I had been using (till i built this) has so many bells and whistles (calorie tracking, step counting, streak guilt etc etc) that drive my anxiety.
so i built this without any of those bells and whistles. just a boring fasting timer with occasional check-ins to see how you're feeling, and holds your hand to get past that tough hour everyone has in their fasting window.
