Well, well, well! Heineken’s UK pub arm @starpubsuk is reportedly to have been in discussions at the weekend, to hoover up 300 pubs from Stonegate! The proposed purchase is valued at approx. £300 million.

Who ever dreamed the idea of stopping people drinking a pint standing in or outside a pub needs to get out more.
It will have their desired effect of reducing drinking as a closed down pub is somewhat constrained in serving beer. @SaveUKPubs @ProtectPubs

I love North Wales & the North Wales coast. Made my first visit to the lovely Fairy Glen Hotel, in a stunning location at the bottom of the Sychnant Pass. The pub & village were threatened by a serous hill fire a few weeks ago, so I especially wanted to go to show my support 🍺

Tomorrow we’ll be updating planning rules to give stronger protection for pubs.
We’re drawing a line so developers have to prove there’s genuinely no way to save a pub before they can even think about knocking it down.

Our comments on today’s 20% business rates cut (for pubs in England).
It’s a welcome first step - and with all the challenges the Government is facing it is positive & hopeful that @andyburnham has already announced a positive thing regarding #pubs - but there needs a proper package of measures to help & save pubs, including fairer tax treatment, but also some things which cost the Government nothing.

We welcome the UK Government’s decision to allow #pubs in England to open for Monday’s World Cup match between England & Mexico. Asking councils to grant TENs was completely the wrong approach, as well as a waste of time and public funds. Only some pubs will want to open anyway. This now gives clarity & certainty.
