i find it funny when games get remade and people complain that some of the 'soul' was lost, because in many cases that soul was likely just a result of hardware limitations rather than deliberate decisions lmao

of course, people are more than welcome to prefer older versions of games for aspects they deem superior, but I do think it's very silly to act like all of those older elements were 100% deliberate design choices

one example would be the Zombies map TranZit. the map is filled with annoying enemies that swipe at your face and slow you down, and thick fog that clouds your vision. these were done on purpose by the devs so the map could run on PS3/360 hardware. these atmospheric choices were done due to limitation, not because they thought it looked cool.
