This week, Web3 gaming moved one step closer to a different model: players not just as an audience, but as co-builders.
• Pixels went open source, pairing community requests and bounties with player-run Realms.
• BLOCKLORE put AI-assisted video creation inside the game ecosystem.
• Paradise Tycoon opened a creator challenge built around players sharing the worlds they make.
The interesting shift isn't “more community.” It's a change in what community is for.
When players can build, remix, create content, or solve funded tasks, the game stops being a finished product with a Discord around it. It starts becoming a living studio with its players inside.
The next retention loop may not be just play → reward.
It may be play → create → belong.
