Feel the vibe but don't agree. This was an excellent cycle. The highs weren't as expensive to buy, the lows were meme worthy. Open source stateless projects got to shine against greedy corporate Bitcoin business. Hacks came & went but Bitcoin itself wasn't compromised🧵

🚨BREAKING: Someone murdered an entire family in Mexico to steal a Bitcoin hardware wallet reportedly holding $1.5 MILLION.
Jonathan Meléndez, keyboardist of the band Camilo Séptimo, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter and their housemaid were killed by someone who knew about his holdings stored at home.
Their 6-year-old son survived.
Two suspects were arrested within 12 hours and face up to 70 years per victim.
Violent crypto robberies are surging, with over $30 MILLION stolen through physical attacks on crypto holders in the first half of 2026 alone, per Chainalysis.

August 8th, Spamcoin forked off from Bitcoin with a contentious hardfork attempt (removing/violating BIP110 rules). Bitcoin continued, albeit maimed by miner abandonment.
August 19th, "Purity" did the same (by removing/replacing the DAA). Bitcoin continued, unfazed.
August 30th, Bitcoin deployed a proof-of-work change to BLAKE2b. It was uncontroversial and unanimously supported by what was left of the network, and carries the original chain forward undisputed.
