Lionel Messi's international career at major tournaments really is a tale of two halves...😯
In 2016, he announced his retirement from the national team after losing the Copa América final against Chile on penalties for the second year in a row, in the tournament's centenary edition 🥺
However he returned, and five years later in 2021, he lifted the trophy, before winning the World Cup in 2022 and a second Copa América in 2024 🏆🏆🏆
In the tournaments that followed his 2016 retirement he was in sensational form, and put on some of the best displays in history to help restore Argentina as one of the greatest national teams in the world 🙌

A powerful tribute over New York Harbor. 🇺🇸
Sky Elements flew 2,977 illuminated drones, with each light representing one of the 2,977 lives lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The formation transformed the night sky into a moving memorial, honoring the victims and reminding the world that every number was a person, a family, and a story.
Twenty-five years later, the impact of 9/11 is still felt across generations. Moments like this ensure those lives are never forgotten.
✨ 2,977 lights. 2,977 lives. One unforgettable tribute.
