@PublicLab runs great barnraisings, which are similar. One fave activity is people producing a simple one page newspaper each day by people just drawing/writing on one poster paper what they learned or humorous tidbits. Photo taken and copies printed to hand out.

That means your data will be preserved by the Internet Archive for... a long time. There are limitations: the pages are static, so no new changes can be saved. However, existing exports can still be downloaded. We are working on a version of "MapKnitter Lite" that can be hosted for free, with image archiving based on the Internet Archive. Love @PublicLab. Love the @waybackmachine. Open source and open data projects are hard to maintain forever, especially when they have significant hosting costs. Glad to see MapKnitter is getting a graceful closure with support from @internetarchive.

All URLs will show a page linking to the @internetarchive backups for that address, so finding your maps should be easy. In fact, you'll still be able to interact with the maps and download your images, due to the way MapKnitter is coded.
