Exactly.
You think players aren’t already noticing things here?
- Gauthier demanded out.
- Michkov got publicly dragged.
- Nine straight losses to start.
- Potential locker room tension.
- 4-10-4
Vegas operates like a mercenary organization. You can’t just stand pat.
Flyers are…
30th in the standings
31st in goals scored
32nd in goals per game
28th in goals against
30th in goal differential
Somehow, the coach is stillI employed, the GM has made no changes and Michkov (their leading goal scorer) is the problem?
The coach has to go.
100%. It’s up to Danny & Keith to correct their wrong, fire Tocchet, but also prove that they can competently run a franchise.
To this point, they’ve shown they’re utterly incapable.
Tony’s issue with Tocchet is that he’s obliterating the room, just like he’s done elsewhere, and that he’s taking away the intuition of our gifted players by way of culture reprogramming.
The bleeding (the Rick Tocchet effect) has to stop first & foremost.
Phase two is Danny & Jonesy proving they’re not imbeciles.
Unfortunately I do believe by the time we are seeing public frustration or comments from the player, coach or teammates, it’s already gone too far.
The undercurrent was there last year and now Michkov has put in the work and feels targeted or unappreciated.
#Flyers fans aren't happy with Matvei Michkov's ice time. Activity from Michkov's Instagram account suggests he isn't pleased either.
With the constant drama surrounding Michkov & his relationship with Tocchet, how do the Flyers avoid this getting worse?

As someone who played on teams where internal tension happened I can tell you…
You have to remove anyone in the room who thinks it’s ok to judge and openly criticize teammates in a non-constructive way.
I’ve said this from the get go about Tocchet and believe it…
These types of issues follow this coach. Podkolzin, Pettersson and now Michkov.
Attitude reflects leadership.
If you want to fix this mess you have to get rid of Tocchet, start with a clean slate, move anyone not willing to be a good teammate and galvanize the room…
You demand more BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.
I don’t know why this is a tough concept for this coach.
Couturier spoke generally.
Seeler spoke generally.
Tocchet defined a play that was CLEARLY Michkov and connected it to Seeler’s comments. There’s NO reason for that.
They’re 3-8-4. The style they play is intensely boring. They have glaring flaws down the middle.
You can blame the coach, the GM and some of the players. What you can’t do is expect fans to watch and be patient.
Head coach Rick Tocchet met with the media following #PHIvsWSH.
10/28 PHI @ WSH Postgame: Rick Tocchet
Body fat. Next question.
And if you think the optics of firing someone would be bad, consider what not doing anything does?
Not a slow start…not a mediocre start…the worst in franchise history by a wide margin now.
This is 100% true.
You can’t have Michkov and Martone out less than 95% of your roster AND lose 9 in a row.
You can’t sit your leading goal scorer and play Michael Bunting more than him on the PP and have people accept that.
There’s too many issues that fans see.
I agree with the premise that everyone has to own the way this season started.
I can’t agree with no one should be fired or traded right now.
It’s time to look at the veterans who have been here and ask if they want to play for a contender elsewhere…

There’s not a person who cashes a check from the Philadelphia Flyers who doesn’t bear some responsibility for the disastrous start to the season. Not one.

Could there be ramifications for being aggressive in response to this? Yes and there will be if they aren’t as well.
I want to align my decisions with people who understand 0-6-3 to start a year is an unacceptable thing.
